Despise Contamination Event

The is an ongoing event that will be announced when active. The dungeon has been modified with new "green" contaminated monsters. When we activate this event, this dungeon will become difficult with custom monsters with "hulk-like" strength.

Storyline Part 1

By Lord British's Decree, Dungeon Despise has been declared a quarantined area due to an unknown contaminate spreading within its caverns. You are advised to stay out of the Dungeon, it has been reported that strange creatures are lurking withing the caverns.

Beware of any unnatural fauna and beasts lurking inside. Research and Medical teams are on route to investigate further.

Storyline Part 2

Over the past few years, the ecosystem within Dungeon Despise (Trammel) has completely changed. What was once a typical, yet sprawling set of caverns filled with only dirt and stones has now been overrun by vines, brush and nefarious looking mushrooms spawning from an unknown source. Even some of the monsters are contaminated by a glowing green substance that is causing them to behave erratically.

Because of this, caution should be employed while exploring the depths of Despise. It is still relatively "safe" to delve within the dungeon, although Research and Medical teams have been deployed to investigate further.

Researchers found Green Monsters:

  • Contaminated Lizardman
  • Contaminated Ettin
  • Contaminated Elemental
  • Contaminated Troll
  • Contaminated Ogre
  • Contaminated Cyclops
  • Contaminated Titan
  • An Overgrowth of Vines

With enough research into the contamination, we will be able to uncover its origins and hopefully contain it before it makes its way into the overworld. For now, citizens are instructed to slay any contaminated monsters they come across, not only to put an end to their misery, but to also hopefully procure a Contaminated Monster Sample from their corpse.

Once the Research and Medical teams arrive, more information will be made available to the public.

Storyline Part 3

A Letter from Syndelle to Nystul

The drudges finally cleared a path through the vines which obstructed the caverns of Despise and I was able to inspect the underground lakes. It was as you had feared. There is an immense amount of putrid smelling contamination seeping into the water supply, causing not only a complete change in the ecosystem, but also the poisoning and painfully slow deaths of the local inhabitants. Even though we slew many a repond on our way to this final water source, in the name of Compassion we will ultimately save them from suffering an even more agonizing death.

With that in mind, I am in dire need of supplies and would greatly appreciate your continued support. I have crafted a rudimentary lab to catalog my findings but these conditions are completely unsatisfactory and I wish to file a formal complaint to the Alchemist Guild for their lack of forethought into this expedition. Attached to this letter you will find a list of schematics, materials and equipment that will ensure success in our endeavour.

With great insistence and respect,

Syndelle Asanti

Plain speak version of the nonsense.

What is all this? Just adding something interesting to bring new and exciting content to the shard. This is one part of a new story arc.

Permanent Content

Aimed towards mid-geared players (around Astro Demon armor and up). There'll be Quest Givers for Dailies and Once Per Account. These quests will include killing monsters, collecting various samples, etc. Some Quest Givers are in Despise, others can be found throughout the world. Try to decipher clues from the images and lore that is posted here. Prizes from doing quests include Quest Items, Gold, Deco, Equipment, etc. This is a part of "The Classic Feud" series of events.

Dynamic Events

Most will be announced week/days in advance, but some might happen with no warning at all. There will be a special participation item given out each dynamic event to keep track of the Top Field Researchers that aid with the decontamination of Despise. Please try not to complain about time zone differences because it's old and we play for fun. I'll do my best to have it at various times but you can't (and won't) please everyone all the time (or at all).

If you have any questions about this event, feel free to post them here or send EXPO a message in-game. THIS IS JUST A PREQUEL LEADING UP TO ENABLING THE LIVE EVENT. You can begin collecting Contaminated Monster Samples but it's quite rare since the event is not yet live.

It pains me to admit that I was correct but I knew it all along. The contamination is of unnatural causes and has been allowed to spread throughout Despise for years. Our "beloved" ruler has once again remained complacent and permitted a dire situation develop into something unfathomable. I have much to discuss with the Alchemist's Guild and although I have noted your complaint, it is a minor inconvenience that you will have to deal with if you wish to secure further funding. I will review your findings and determine a schedule of supply shipment dates to be sent to you directly.

As the use of transportation spells into dungeons has been prohibited, I will need to gather adventurers for this logistical nightmare. You should be grateful I have even included you in this enterprise and remember where you were before this. Just another vendor of reagents in Vesper, strolling aimlessly through life in circles without a purpose. With my tutelage, you can achieve greatness. Now I expect you to adhere to the Guild's timetable and report your findings accordingly.
