Archaeology Quest
Archaeology & Tomb Raiding
Quest giver: John Aubry
Starting Point: Papua Inn
Quest Reward: Entrance into Tombs/Items to Fence
Speak to John Aubrey. Recently on a dig, North of Papua City, Trammel in the desert, he was attacked by a band of grave robbers and they stole everything. He asks you to retrieve his logbook returned and rid the world of the grave robbers. In return, he will give you a pack containing Archeological Brushes.
Travel north into the sandy passages. Kill grave robbers until one drops Aubrey’s Log book. Return it to him.
If you have not read the “Understanding Archaeology and Ancient Tombs” book you will need to do so before using the brushes.
Use the brushes as you would a shovel for digging, double click the brushes and target the sand.
Note a full Archaeology set will make digging for artifacts faster.
Two Types of Artifacts will be dug up:
- Normal Artifacts (Recovered from and Archaeological Site)
- Priceless Artifacts
Tomb raiding
To gain entrance into a tomb you will need normal artifacts (not the priceless ones). Travel to the Museum in trammel. Speak to the museum curator. She will give you a tomb teleporter in exchange for 10 normal artifacts.
Tombs are random. The teleporter has a timer and must be used before it expires.
You need these minimum skills in:
- Forensic Evaluation (higher the better)
- Begging (for haggling artifact prices)
- Mining 120
- Detect Hidden 110+
- Item ID 100+
- Cartography 110+
- Lockpick 110+
- Plus high luck to uncover these hidden tombs
WARNING! The tombs are for advanced players! There are no places to resurrect and are very dangerous places. Make sure you have your self-res available before you enter and insure your items! Since the tombs are random locations and you need keys to enter, it is difficult to return to your body if you exit. If your body decays here you will lose your items
Priceless Artifacts
Priceless artifacts can be sold to the fence in Ter Mur. Once you find him and speak to him he will tell you his employer is looking to buy priceless artifacts. How much you get for your treasures will depend on your luck and skill and knowing when to quit! You can sell or Haggle, or keep your collectible artifact
After you complete the quest, you can use the brush/items in the Archaeology System
John Aubrey Lore
John Aubrey, a renowned archaeologist, sat at a table in the Papua Inn, nursing a mug of ale. He had just returned from a dig in the desert north of Papua City, Trammel, but his trip was not a success. A band of grave robbers had ambushed him and stole all of his findings, including his prized logbook. He looked up at the adventurer sitting across from him, desperation in his eyes.
"Please, I beg of you," John implored, "Retrieve my logbook and rid the world of those thieving grave robbers. In return, I will give you a pack containing archeological brushes."
The adventurer nodded, taking on the task. They traveled north into the sandy passages, fighting off the grave robbers until one of them dropped John's logbook. The adventurer picked it up and returned it to John.
"Thank you," John said, his eyes tearing up with gratitude. "Take these brushes as a reward. But before you use them, I recommend you read the "Understanding Archaeology and Ancient Tombs" book."
The adventurer took the brushes and set out to use them, but not before reading the book and preparing themselves for the task ahead. They discovered that they could use the brushes as they would a shovel, by double-clicking the brushes and targeting the sand. They also learned that a full archaeology set would make digging for artifacts faster.
As they dug, they uncovered two types of artifacts: normal artifacts, recovered from an archaeological site, and priceless artifacts. The normal artifacts could be used to gain entrance into a tomb, but the priceless artifacts could be sold for a high price to a fence in Ter Mur.
To gain entrance into the tomb, the adventurer had to travel to the museum in Trammel and speak to the museum curator. She would give them a tomb teleporter in exchange for ten normal artifacts. However, the tombs were in random locations and required high skills in forensic evaluation, begging, mining, detect hidden, item ID, cartography, lockpick and luck to uncover these hidden tombs. And it was extremely dangerous, with no places to resurrect and the tombs were difficult to return to if the adventurer exits.
The adventurer entered the tomb and discovered priceless artifacts and returned to Ter Mur to sell them to the fence. The price of the priceless artifacts would depend on the adventurer's luck and skill, and knowing when to quit. The adventurer could sell or haggle for a better price, or keep the collectible artifact.
After completing the quest, the adventurer could continue to use the brushes and items in the archaeology system, uncovering new discoveries and treasures.
