Hey Guys,
I'm to new to be writing a 101 on Weapon Leveling, and as such i would appreciate if one of you (or more) vets could jot down the majority of configs that make a great weapon. This takes up hours of [c time asking around, so would be nice if you guys could share the wisdom with us newbs :)
much appreciated!

First, you forgot about the most important attribute to add to a champ weapon with ww, self repair 5, without it, your weapons wont last 2 champs in a row.
Now on the point distribution, i prefer having more then 5-10 points on aoe, but thats just me. If you are not planing on using vamp form, 30 life leech isn't gonna be enough imo, otherwise 30 is just fine. I also like to add SDI to my champ weapons, beeing that all magic hits and aoe hits are affected by it and there is no cap.Stamina leech can also be worth putting in to help move through champs without over using divine fury.
Only thing i have to say about PVP weapons is, if you are making a ranged weapon, hit lower attack wont matter much.
Finaly, and this is personnal, i dont mind adding sc with spending points but  will never add sr5 with them, i would rather spend the ed's for that, sr5 costs too much, i beleive spending ed's for it is a much better investment.

With 101 in mind, what would be a sum up for a starter PvM weapon like a katana?

When crafting a weapon, which would you guys consider a weapon worthy to level? What stats does it absolutely need to have to even bother leveling?

Do the hit spell properties proc on multiple enemies when using whirlwind? I didn't know about spell damage and the aoe properties that is gonna be a nice addition to my character.

As for the mods, save the points and drop life leech use curse weapon and/or vamp form instead.

hey guys figured this would be a good place to ask.  Why do so many choose valorite or toxic over say Plat for their weapon?

Platinum is 100% physical i believe and many monsters have high physical resistance, where as valorite damage is spread out pretty evenly. Personally i don't like toxic but i like to do the arachnid spawn so it wouldn't work for me.

Ahh that makes sense.  Thanks for the answer there.  Guess sometimes higher level ore isn't best hehe.

The only reason i dont use vamp form is because of pk'ers, they use undead slayers, so what you are doing is giving them an easier target to kill, that is all, and curse weapon wont help simply because the effect dont last long enough so you end up having to cast it over and over non stop.
I believe that the reason why people dont use platinum is related to PVP more then anything, platinum = phys damage and every PVP'ers got 105 rpd making plat very dangerous for yourself.
I personnaly have 3 diff axes for champs, one is poison dam, the other is energy dam and the last is fire dam. Depending on the champ i take which ever i need.

All spell hits have a chance of hiting multiple targets, combined to the aoe dam and ww damage the results can be devastating, add sdi to it all, it becomes a massacre!
But in the end, everyone has their preferences, it all comes down to combat style, gear and  what you plan on doing with the weapon so there isn't a perfect weapon configuration to fit everyones needs.
