**Introduced alongside our Custom Golem Crafting, developed by Kane**

Although the original Golems were created for sinister purposes by Exodus and his minions, some of the more intuitive Tinkers of Britannia were able to manipulate their programming and achieve control over the behemoths. The classic runic coding system used for the Golems was developed by a brilliant and methodical Tinker by the name of Balathustrius.

Having earned notoriety for this as well as his service to the Tinker's Guild of Britain, Balathustrius acquired enough gold to purchase the Tinker Shop just north of Britain Bank and began a lucrative business of repairing and selling golem supplies.

Wanting to meet the constant demand of the public as well as furthering his own obsession of understanding how these hybrid beings could function to their highest potential, Balathustrius descended further and further into his studies, intent on maximizing his profits and patents. Nystul, the Royal Wizard of Britain, held only a few more than he, but this new boon of technology would solidify Balathustrius' name in history... or so he believed.

Eventually his passion led to his undoing, when he accidentally came across the correct combination of magical reagents, power crystals, torque and luck to somehow fuse a clockwork assembly to a circuit board he had looted off the corpse of the "facsimile" Blackthorn when it was defeated by the hands of Dawn.

This changed everything anyone knew about Golems and he had to perfect it!

His sponsors were pleased by his prototypes, but he knew he could do better... he just needed the funds. And so, as more adventurers purchased and upgraded their Golems, Balthustrius the Demented Tinker grew ever more powerful.

Balathustrius has constructed a laboratory larger and more uninhibited by Britannia rules and regulations in the northwestern region of the Lost Lands of Trammel. Even though his plans have already been set in motion, is it possible to stop this ascension of technology into the mainstream or is it too late for the world?

On a side note, some of the veterans of the shard might remember the area and others not. This new dungeon was created on what used to be the grounds of the Camuy Caverns dungeon from eras past. I didn't want to do the same thing and instead created something with Kane for all play-styles to be a part of and enjoy adventuring in.

Hello Expo. I am a fan. This shard is awesome, and it's staff like you and Kane/Dante that make it more fun each day.

That being said, I do love your write ups, and was wondering if there was an EVO Lore Page on the wiki. This would be a place to keep all these short and long write ups you do; all in one place for those seeking information about the shard, and a good read.

Glad you enjoy my babbling. If there isn't a lore section, then I'll ask Dante to start one up. I like posting on the forums since I have a little more freedom here and enjoy posting things like this. Was trying to figure out where to post this, was about to drop it into the RP subforum but General gets more views ;)

Heya Expo, I loved the story line for this. The way you placed Balathustrius in the shadow of Nystul was a nice touch. The references to Dawn and Blackthorn really give it polish. I played the most during publish 15 when Lord Blackthorn's Revenge was active, and this really carries a similar feel. Any chances we'll see Exodus make an appearance, in reference or otherwise? I have always been a fan of the golem system and this really fleshes the whole system out.

I would also like to see a section on the forums dedicated to storyline for the server, where we can all respond to the story line with our experiences and endeavors as it progresses. It would really bring to scope the longevity of this server. I know a few of us old timers would enjoy reading over our past exploits and adventures, and the story that brought it all about.

Anyway, thanks for breathing some life into this. I don't want to speak for others, but I know a few people who really appreciate it.

                                                                                                                                                                             †Soulsunder†

We have been working on many aspects of roleplaying and lore to add some flavor to our new content.  We have always wanted to do this, just never really had the staff with interest in writing up the history of the shard lore or storylines for each adventure.  Expo will be taking up the lead with his new Demented Tinker adventure, coming soon!

We intend to write up many storylines that weave in some original UO history with our current UO Evolution content.

I wrote up a small paragraph with some basic Vecna backround information on the wiki for the Skull of Vecna quest and will start a new adventure and storyline soon.

I just created a section on the forums called "Legends & Lore" for the storylines!

Hope you all enjoy the new content and lore

Although some have found the entrance to Balathustrius' Lair, they have not yet encountered all the dangers that await in the Demented Tinker's Lair. I have posted a teaser of one of the new artifact stealables that can be found in the Demented Tinker's Lair.

More information will be posted soon on the grand opening event to this area. Stay tuned!

“The upcoming Homebrew Festival has degraded into a cluster of drunkards and tourists that have no respect for the history or culture behind it!” grumbled the Demented Tinker, Balathustrius, as he meticulously replaced the power source of a newly crafted golem.

He had received a notification of the event on one of his highly sophisticated technological devices, yet he cursed it for how he had to rely upon it… receiving superfluous messages but always anxiously awaiting that one transmission from the ever enigmatic Exodus.

Originally his foe, now Balathustrius saw that he could greatly benefit from allying with this indestructible being. The technological and ethereal advances that had surfaced from his most recent research far outweighed what is deemed “ethical” and he was intent upon uncovering more secrets.Balathustrius glanced at his Darkstarr Moondial, a trinket he had acquired from a far off realm, and calculated the date that his creations would be completed.

“Ahh yes, how convenient. On Friday, September 12th, I will reclaim my honor and reputation as the Exalted Tinker of Britannia!

*He chortled as the dial rotated ever closer to the appointed time*

First off, I have been dying to see how EVO does new content, its design, the mobs, difficulty, ambiance, visuals, layout, creativity....I was not disappointed!

Expo, you did an amazing job!  I was impressed with every aspect!

I also enjoyed the comradery of those, who, under normal circumstances would rather kill each other, work as a team...or sorts. The difficulty seemed to build moderately, and as it did so, the more player bodies were scattered throughout the lair.  Even EVO dragons were dying towards the end...& Balathudtrius put up an excellent fight.  Throwing his minions at the onslaught of players, death was abound! Eventually, the players managed to corner the Evil Tinker in the deepest part of his Lair....Like a feral animal he fought, but in the end, he was no match for the horde of players....

Well done, and thank you for permitting me to be a part of the event!

I truly appreciate that. It was quite a labor of love to get this place going and I'm glad folks enjoyed the opening. And even though Balathustrius got away, he might appear another day....

Also, if you haven't read it yet, I posted a few pics from the event here.

After over a year, I was finally able to use the footage from the opening event to create this video. As you'll notice, Balathustrius sees what happened that night a little differently than us...

Watch fighting some of the mobs in this dungeon, they will turn or make a pet not attack.  Also a LOT of calmness gets passed around, so watch your whirlwind macros.

The secret door could use a little hint or something though, if you have never been in there before.
