Since we were working on roleplay ideas, I thought I would ask evryone, would like to open up housing in Heartwood?

Since we were discussing where to locate the Elf guild, this seemed like the logical choice.  It may be a cool place to own property?

Let me know what you think?

I think it would be a nice place for housing as long as the houses were outside of the trade quest areas.  I'm sure that's what you ment by opening up housing; but one can never be sure.
I also think that improving the trade quest rewards would be a novel idea too. Doesn't have to be by leaps and bound, but would be nice if the rewards made sense and were helpful to new & veteran players.

 That's my two cents...

Im not entirely sure how you would place housing in heartwood. Its so tiny and crowded already.  If ELF guild needs a place to call home It would make sense, But unless you made new maps it would be difficult to expand. In my opinion, if they need a place to call home, I'd just make them a place out on the map.

Ive been trying to figure out the best course of action for the role play area I'd like to create, because to be honest, I dont like any of UO's re-exsisting towns too much. So much wasted space.

Why not use Ilshenar for the RP project, cant mark, not much there, nice variety of landscape, and only gm's can place a house, it would assure RP dedicated housing, i would suggest a 14x14 maximum size. Since the facet is always empty it would be perfect.
Just a thought.

Yes many rp adventures will be there, this was just a nice idea for the Elves Guild

Ilshenar has always been one of my favorite facets (T2A is my favorite although it's not really a facet, more of an expansion but you get what I'm saying). As you said, there's a great variety of landscapes there and lots of opportunity for something. Balathustrius' Lair was my first part of adding more to T2A, once I do some classic dungeons, that'll be next.

As for the RP housing in Heartwood, I could see possibly the guild hall of the ELFs there but not lots of player housing.

Since you mention T2A, I suggest it as the staging ground for an elf settlement/guild house.  You can't recall in or out. There are several ways in and out otherwise. There is plenty of open landscape, only a Dev could place housing on. Honestly; though Expo's dungeon is probably great. The whole area needs more content, but for the lesser experienced/geared players to enjoy. Champs are over developed and to much of a trend in my opinion. UO was never about one set of items, or one monster type to kill. (I.E. whirlwind axes and champion spawns)

  Why?

Because there were thousands of people playing at the same time. Camp, PK, complain all you want. You may have started the day out trying to down a champ, but usually 80% of the time it took you all day to get it done. Due to obstacles.
