In Search of Ancient Relics: Gwendolyn's Memoir
by Gwendolyn Mays
I have always chased after adventure and legends. One of the journeys in my life began in the endless desert of Britannia. There, legendary relies were hidden, and I set off on quest to find them.
One day, while enjoying a drink at the Papua Inn, an archaeologist named John Aubry approached me. His face was filled with despair and exhaustion. He explained that he had recently been conducting an excavation in the desert north of Papua City when he was attacked by a band of grave robbers. They took everything, including his precious logbook. He pleaded for my help.
"Please," John said earnestly. "Retrieve my logbook and rid the world of those grave robbers. In return, I will teach you how to excavate relics from tombs."
I accepted his plea. Following the sandy path north, I fought off the bandits and eventually found John's logbook. I brought it back to him.
"Thank you," John said, tears welling up in his eyes. "Take this brush. Before you begin excavating, make sure to read the book 'Understanding Archaeology and Ancient Tombs'."
With the archaeological brush in hand and after reading the book to prepare I began my excavation work. On the first day of exploration, I stood in the blazing desert sun.
In my hand was the archaeological brush given by John, and I started digging through the sand. Using the brush, I carefully swept away the sand, looking for traces of ancient relics. Each time small fragments emerged from the sand, my heart raced. Wondering what they could be and how significant the discovery might be, I proceeded with great caution. After several days of excavation, I discovered two types of relics: archaeological relics and priceless artifacts. The archaeological relics were necessary for gaining entrance to the tombs, while the priceless artifacts could be sold at a high price in Ter Mur. I carefully stored these relics and prepared for the next step. I went to the museum in Trammel and spoke with the curator. In exchange for ten regular relics, the curator gave me a tomb teleporter. Using the teleporter, I arrived at a randomly selected tomb. However, this tomb was no ordinary place. It was the tomb of the ancient and powerful witch Minax.
Minax had once terrorized Britannia, and her tomb was cursed with powerful magic.
Entering the tomb a sense of tension washed over me. Deep within the tomb, I discovered remnants of Minax and powerful relics. But at that moment, the tomb's curse activated, and terrifying undead appeared. Upon entering the first chamber, a cold wind swirled around me like a hurricane in the darkness of the tomb. Suddenly, skeletal warriors emerged before my eyes. The skeletal warrior swore rusted armor and wielded swords, with red light shining from their hollow eye sockets. "Destroy the intruder!" the skeletal warriors hissed in eerie voices. I immediately assumed a combat stance and drew my sword. The skeletal warriors advanced quickly, and I deftly moved my body to dodge their attacks. At the same time, my sword flashed as I shattered the skeletal warriors' bodies. As the skeletal warriors crumbled to the ground, I caught my breath and prepared for the next onslaught.
Entering the next chamber, the air grew even colder, and the entire room was shrouded in a thick black fog. From within the fog emerged terrifying wraiths. The wraiths, translucent and eerie, wailed as they approached. I decided to use my magical abilities against the wraiths. Chanting an incantation, I extended my hand and unleashed a powerful holy light. The light scorched the wraiths, causing them to vanish. The wraiths let out agonizing screams as they disappeared, and the fog in the chamber lifted. After defeating all the undead, I reached the deepest part of the tomb. There lay Minax's relic. It was imbued with dark magical power and could bring about great calamity if misused. I carefully lifted the relic, pondering how to wield this power.
After successfully exploring the tomb, I decided to store Minax's relic in the secret vault of Papua. The vault was a heavily guarded place, protected by various magical defense mechanisms including shield s, warning systems, and mazes, as well as powerful guardians like ancient golems and mage guardians. Thanks to these stringent security measures, the relic was safely stored. I set off in search of new adventures.
Strengthened by the experience gained from Minax's tomb, I prepared for many future challenges and embarked on a new journey.
These memoirs are just one of the many adventures I have experienced. Britannia is always filled with new challenges and legends, and I am ready to experience them all.
