To be honest, the bonus damage it gives for spiked shield special defense (%26) is very cool. And you can cap all the other stats with your other gear pieces easily. So, I think that shield is better than a mirror shield. It might cost more than a mirror shield to complete though, you will need to buy a spell channeling deed which is 100ed by the stone.
