He took a gasp of air, it hurt to breath, there was a tightness around his chest and his head throbbed, he slowly opened his eyes, one eye wouldn’t open fully and he rubbed it with the palm of his hand, he felt the caked blood crumble away, but it still wouldn’t open fully, he pushed himself of the ground and winced at the pain in his chest, he looked down and noticed the dent in the side of his armour, he thanked the gods for his armour, once again it had saved his life, he looked around for his helmet but couldn’t see it anywhere, then he remembered the ettins, and the moongate, he quickly got up, then the world decided to swing and he lost his balance and feel to his knees.
He waited for the world to right itself, took a few shallow breaths and looked around, he noticed it was nearly daybreak, several hours had passed since his encounter with the ettins, he looked up in the direction of the clearing, he could clearly see the path the ettins took straight to it, he slowly got up, looked around and noticed his sword a few feet away, he made his way to it, bent down slowly and picked it up, he turned it over and examined both sides, no stains, no dents, he sheathed it and turned towards the clearing, following in the footsteps of the ettins.
He stood on the edge of the clearing, holding his side and breathing as best he could, he examined the ground, the grass had been trampled by the ettins that much was clear, there was scorched grass to his right and some blood stains here and in the centre, he made his way to the centre and saw a footprint that was human in nature, more ettin prints and tracks leaving the clearing to the north, again, the path they took was easy to follow. The tracks leading away looked heavier than those leading into the clearing, so they were carrying something heavy.
There had been a fight, a short one at that, obviously some sort of fire spell had been cast, that and the moongate appearing in the same place as the one that brought him here, led him to believe Mith had come through, but why had the ettins taken him ? He looked around a little longer but noticed nothing else, he looked up at the path the ettins took, he then loosened his chest plate which made breathing a little less painful and began to follow the path.
He had tracked the ettins for nearly a day and as he cleared the mountain pass he noticed there was nowhere he could hide, he stayed close to the rocks and low to the ground, there were several trolls milling around, he recognised this area, it was the entrance to Despise, he was tempted to sneak passed the trolls and investigate the dungeon, but knew he would not be of any assistance to Mith in this condition, no, he needed to get help, get a group together to investigate further into the dungeon and find his friend, he knew of a place where adventurers gathered, he would have to make his way to the Rusty Anchor Tavern in Skara Brae and look for help there.
