Seems I updated the incorrect version for the monthly quest, so hopefully we can get that show back on the road.  This update also brings us to phase 2 of the socket system changes.  For attack and defense augments there is now a skill check in place.  One of the primary problems with PvP is that the current system allows for massive stacking into a primary skill and then free use of special augments, as you will probably experience this will no longer be the case.

October Quest NPC Updated: For those that did the previous month's quest it should now display the correct gump

Xml Custom Attack/Defense: Quite a bit of this was recoded, these systems now have a specific skill check that takes place and by default at this moment all augments have a skill check range of 100-160.  The socket system has always had a major problem and that is the 100% results theory, this is no longer the case.  Be advised that both target skill/skills and skill check range are subject to change so please do not get to worked up.

If you would be so kind to  explain more of this change as I have zero clue what you are speaking of. Its very vague. I'm sure you have spoken to a lot about this and those people know.
But I am not one of them :)

By attack and defense augments do you mean things like spike shield/triple slash? I actually like that skill check range but I'm not exactly sure at what point is it being checked. Is this to apply an augment or to use the ability the augment provides? I understand that such an answer may not make sense without the subsequent phases being implemented and if that is the case, then i understand.

The previous system merely checked to see if a skill was high enough but it was originally intended to be an actual skill check kind of like hiding or anything else done in UO.  So now for example when you do damage with spiked shield or triple slack, or heal damage with gift of health there is a skill check based on the specific skill needed.  I do know I need to make sure there is a list of what is skill is needed and the skill level that will be checked.  This will come after the next phase when we fine tune the skill levels and make some changes to the required items to use the augment.

Just in case I missed the question/answer in all this:  This skill check happens when the ability is attempted.
