Wiseman has asked staff to help organize a larger poker event and sponsor some nice prizes for the grand winner of a tournament.

Dante will be giving 500 Evolution Dollars to the winner of this event! 250 for 2nd and 100 for 3rd places

The tournament will be for 10 weeks, starting Monday Dec 14th

To qualify you must be a weekly winner and get a trophy.  On the day of the final event you must present your trophy and will play for the ED prizes

Due to WiSeMan having other engagements on Mondays now, I will be announcing and conducting the poker tournaments in these last couple of weeks and giving out the prizes. Thank you WiSeMan for asking me to finish this up for you + everyone should give him a huge thanks for organizing the event in the first place!! It has been a blast participating since week one!

Quick Recap: There is ONE WEEK LEFT before the Grand Prize Tournament with a 1st place prize of 500 ED!! Do NOT miss this chance to get yourself a shot at that fortune! One ED sells for 100,000 gold - that means the grand prize = 50 million gold! Second place wins 250 ED and third place wins 100 ED! Spending 150k for a chance at 10 to 50 million is a no-brainer!

All you have to do is show up to the Poker Room on Monday Feb. 15th at 8pm server time (which is Central U.S. time) with 150,000 gold to play with. You buy yourself a seat with 150k gold and play your heart out - because the top 3 players get a trophy and advance to the Grand Prize tourney on Monday Feb. 22nd. I will begin announcing reminders in global chat at 7pm server time.

Rule Reminder: Keep your trophies! A trophy turn-in is required for your entry into the Grand Prize tournament. This has been a rule since the tourney started so we'll keep it that way. Please do not show up without a trophy to turn in!

**** And a question to all players who have already won entry to the Grand Prize tournament - the original understanding was that the Grand Prize tournament buy-in was 150k like any other week. Over the last couple of weeks, WiSeMan had spoken openly about raising that to 1 million gold pieces. Because the word of change was already out there to some but not others, and in the interest of fairness to all, I am leaving this decision open to a vote. The three options for Grand Prize buy-in are 150k, 500k, or 1 million gold. In order to vote, you must have already won a spot into the final tourney and you must post your selection in this thread.

This is a quick little FAQ giving the answers to some popular questions about the final game -




Q: Will the trophies in the finals have my character's name on it?
A: Yes


Q: Can I play in the final game with a different character than the one I originally won the trophy with?
A: I don't see why not. The trophy belongs to you as the player really, not the character. Any one of your alts is fine.


Q: Do I have to physically turn in a trophy to get into the final game?
A: Yes. You're only required to turn in one trophy, even if you won more than one.


Q: Can I sell/buy trophies for entry into the final game?
A: No. Some people won multiple trophies by placing on different weeks but the understanding was that they were eliminating potential spots for other players, not earning additional entries to be sold off later.


Q: Is there any other way for me to get into the final game if I didn't qualify in a previous week?
A: Unfortunately no. Entry trophies can't be sold and even if there is a no-show/drop-out/et cetera leaving a vacant spot (and I already know there are two), there's no way at this point for anyone else to earn that spot.

I wish I could have participated, but I started too recently on the shard, otherwise you know I would've! 

My question is this, how did you go about organizing it?  I'd love to be able to ask a few people in chat if anyone wants to go in on a 50k tourney or something, but I have no idea how poker works in UO.

Is there an automated dealing program? deck of cards? staff has to be present? etc?

Alexandra, Wiseman started the event and arranged it with Dante. You would want to ask him about it. I'm only helping bring it to a close because he had to back out due to real life obligations.
