I would like to suggest that some changes be made to the current vendor gate rules. Right now, the rules state that your vendor shop must have five player vendors aside from your own to be added to the gate. I requested to have my shop added - one that was very well stocked with 12 vendors, including one that was for donation-only items. My request was denied because I did not wish to have other player vendors in my shop. There is currently at least one shop on the gate that does NOT have five player vendors and at the time of my request, there was also a shop on the gate that had NO vendors.

Prior to the big server revert, I had a flower/deco shop that was on the gate without issue. It was an awesome asset to the shard - at the time, my shop was one of the very few places to purchase plants and I got LOTS of business and LOTS of compliments from other players.

Having your shop added to the gate really is imperative on a shard that offers it. A vendor gate removed the need to have a prime piece of real estate for a shop and in doing that, removed any type of market "hub" that is visited frequently (i.e. - Luna City, etc..)

Not every player on Evo is all about PVM and/or PVP. The ability to do so many different things in game is what makes UO so great. Throughout my UO years, I have always enjoyed running my own vendor shop. Having one here on Evo would benefit myself and the shard. Not only are my homes built and decorated nicely (which trust me, DOES help make a good first impression to new comers) but since my return, I have donated about $150/month to build the location I had planned to house my shop and to amass the items I intended to stock on my donation-only vendor. Hubby and I both have good jobs and we have no children, so we have the extra disposable income. Had my shop been successful, I would have continued to donate regularly in order to keep that vendor stocked for the players who are unable or unwilling to shell out the RL cash for those items. Win-Win-Win. I'm happy, other players are happy and shard is happy because it's getting some help with those fees.

I understand the idea behind the five-vendor rule. I don't think you should let every single player throw up a vendor at his house and call it a shop. I definitely realize how overwhelming that would be for staff but I think there has to be another way to strike a balance. Maybe a minimum number of vendors/items rule or something along those lines?  It would have taken five minutes for staff to come verify that my shop was legit - my vendors were fully stocked, my shop had over 20 personal dye tubs for other players to use, it also looked nice. I try my best not to page in too often unless I absolutely have too.

I dislike housing other player vendors because you can't always control how well they are maintained. I hate disheveled looking vendors and I can't stand when they are filled with twenty empty containers.  Having to enforce rules is a hassle - I have to do that enough at work, I don't want to have to do that in my free time too.

When the big server revert happened, I lost everything - my shop, my many, many donation items, my beloved pets. None of my items were replaced except for my three house plots in Malas. I was told repeatedly to be patient, that staff was overwhelmed. After a few weeks of waiting, I decided that the shard needed time to get re-stabilized and I needed time to get over the loss of my stuff (let's be real - some of us love our pixels lol) so I left. I returned about three months ago and my first request is an echo of times past .... staff would be overwhelmed.

Please reconsider this rule. I really would like to stay here on Evo. I wouldn't have come back if I didn't like the shard. Thank you for taking the time to at least read this if you did! :)

I think, may be wrong though, that you can pay ED and have one placed on the Moongate listing.

Ok I reread the wiki on it and I was wrong.  Might be worth asking Domino about though and discuss it with her in the morning when she logs on.

You can do as other have done and make a ton of runes and drop them around Brit Bank and NEW guildhall.  People pick them up and go to them a lot.

Also you could place your store near someone else's location and advertise that way as well.  Several little stores have opened up near the OD vendors recently ( just wish they sold good stuff, maybe in time they will).

It is not hard to invite other players to your house,  the contracts are only for a week;  If they do not maintain their vendors do not renew the contract.  It is not hard to have rules,  simply write them in a book and make people read them.  It sounds like you are just to lazy to get other player vendors.   Allowing your house on the moongate means your sacrifice some of your rights as a house owner, like the ability to ban people,  it also means that you have to invite others to join your house.

I do wish the rules were enforced more consistently,  there are several houses that should probably be removed from the gate.

I have visited your shop, its pretty & useful, but it was small.  I like to cover as much ground in as short a time as possible (Malls vs player homes).

My concern is that if they change the rule for you, then every tom, dick & piggy harry will be able to get on the gate. I did think there was the option to purchase onto the system, since your a donator(not because you donate, but because your use to dealing with EDs), perhaps speak with Dante about setting yourself up for a  ED fee?

Forgoing that idea, why not make a pretty pic post on the Sell thread showing where you are on the radar & UOAM Co ords & a pleasant description of what to expect? I use to make a killing doing this in the old days. Just food for thought.  *hugs*

I do love to shop, some days I saunter about seeking hidden goodies (player shops), other days Im in a hurry(Vendor Malls). So both vendor types do have a purpose.

Now if we could get the Vendor system visiable onto our website, that would be awesome!

Talking to Domino is a good idea, but I would also mention, that just about everyone eventually goes to the New Guilds vendor/library area.  Ask if a rune to your shop can be placed/locked down there.

In the mean time, do some shopping as Sage suggested, but besides buying stuff or browsing... look for vendors who meet your standards when it comes to how you would want others to hold down a vendor at your shop.

After you jot down a list, PM them and have a few chats with them. Then pick a few (gate minimum) and do try outs like Thunder mentioned.

Sounds like work, but I imagine it will be a lot easier then all the time it took to create those wonderful houses you have up.

Did you read my entire listing? Laziness has nothing to do with it - trust me, I put a TON more work into the houses themselves then it would take me to get other player vendors. I simply don't *WANT* other vendors - nothing to do with the work of getting them, I just like having my own shop is all.

I agree, would love to see the vendor system on the website, that would be a nice feature! My shop is small because I would rather have around 10 vendors that are well stocked and maintained, then 50 that each have a few items on them or just repeat items. I am not asking them to change the rules just for ME - I am simply wondering if there could be another way to strike a balance. I agree that not every tom, dick and Harry should be able to throw up a vendor and have it added to the gate.

An ED option would be fair, I think. I doubt it would be worth the ED for someone to have a useless vendor added to the gate. I would be willing to pay it to have mine added.

I am just the opposite I guess - I have always preferred the smaller vendor shops to the malls, in my experience, the prices were usually a little better and I just enjoyed seeing the workmanship that went into those small shops. Granted, I have always played on HUGE shards so most of those shops were more than just a plot with vendors standing around. To each their own, I suppose :)

Thank you all for the suggestions! I actually decided to move mine from my island onto a smaller place in Luna. I miss having a market hub, I do wish Luna was a bit more utilized here. At least there is a higher chance of other players encountering my shop this way. I have also added runes to my public mall vendors and will start dropping some.

I did not realize that having my place added to the gate would be an issue this time around (it wasn't the first time) I do wish I had asked before I dumped all of that money into the island. I guess a lot has changed since I was here last.

I will give it some thought, who knows, maybe I will decide to just bite the bullet and host other player vendors. I am just bummed about the whole situation to be honest. I appreciate those of you who took the time to read my post and offered your advice. I will definitely give it all some thought :)

If you want, I could host a vendor for you.

Yeah I know what your are thinking... I profit from all your hard work and the stuff you wish to sell.

Not my intention. I am sure there is some way for you to figure out what everything costs that you want me to put on your vendor. I can then pay you for the items, and keep the profits for whatever sells.

I am not into building a wealth vendor at the moment, but I wouldn't be against helping you out.

Like I said, I would only be the guy with his name on the vendor. You would make the profit from your goods.

My intent is to learn more about making gold with vendors, and of course help you out in your situation.

Have 5 friends place a vendor at your place, place those 5 vendors off in a separate room that is hidden from view, and a note that they are not in use.

It's a work around, not sure if it is a legal one though.
