there is one thing about socket system that seems odd to me. We use 40% of augs, we trash the rest..Why? Because of the price of a socket scrolls... It is completly fine that it is expensive to put best augs into best pieces of gear (Like parry to mirror shiled), it is fine that way, but we also have many other augs.. Ancient augs, Legendary augs that no one use. These lower ones should be used by new/medium players that can't afford the best gear/augs, but still want to use this unique and amazing system.
I still remember my day when i finally found my first Ancient Ruby and was so excited to try it into my noobish weapon. I knew its not the best aug, but i was still happy to try it... So i asked in a chat what should i do with my Ancient Ruby to put it into a weapon... The answer was "Ancient Ruby? Haha, trash it" ... The same it was with my first Ancient Wood (+5 lumber) ... i had to kill evil creatures to find it, was so excited that i will have 105 lumber now and maybe i'll find some better wood... Nope, the answer of veteran players was the same.. "Ancient Wood? Trash it" ... And yeah, after some time exploring, i found out that it is the best idea to do with Ancient/Legendary augs...trash them, cause its not worth to use, because of overpriced socket scrolls. This is a pitty i think. We have a great system and many augs, but because of overpriced socket scrolls, we use like 40% of all augs we have. Why?
What i am suggesting is to keep the price that it takes to socket the best gear with best augs - This should be expensive, cause its high end stuff. But lower the prices that even new/medium players can use this system...
How to do this? Make a socket scroll a common thing (craftable with 1k gold, 50% reward chance from monster contract, 80% chance to drop from medium hard mob... whatever, simply - make it common)... BUT, make the best augs more rare, which will make them more expensive. Augs like parry, anatomy, arms lore, Mythic augs... make them rare by lowering their chance to drop OR add a bunch of new augs (hit fireball / hit explosion / hit flammestrike / chance to summon a creature with attack / augs for skills like cooking, lockpick, music.. etc.). More augs means less chance to drop for all of them. Btw new sockets means more fun =) .. But something might be hard to create, i'll leave this to decide by Kane
Anyway, changing the drop chance of best augs or creating a new ones will result in inreaced price of it, but the socket scrolls would be cheap... That means, that it would take approx the same amount of money as before to get best augs socketed (nothing would dramatically change, because the augs would be more expensive while socket scrolls would be cheap), but like that it would be also possible for new/medium players to use this system to socket their new/medium stuff with lesser augs. Now we have a socket system that only rich players using and we trash 60% of augs we find. All i am suggesting is to make possible for players to use that 60% lower augs (Ancient, Legendary) while keeping the price of socketing the best ones.

The socket system was a very poor amateur script and has has had flaws and exploits since the beginning. I have had that script revised and updated 4 times, just to get it working properly.
We have plans to fix this script, but working out the specific details of balancing the augments and modifying the existing scripts has been a challenge. Every player has sockets and augments added to multiple items and gear. We cant just yank the scripts and hope for the best. There are lots of factors to consider before making any adjustments.
