I was hoping that we could get one these tools out for players, at the same rarity as "Socket Keys".

Ideas for it:

1. Once you own it, its reusable indefinitely.
2. Skills Needed: You need Alchemy 120, Arms Lore 120, Blacksmith 120,  Bowyer/Fletching 120, Carpentry 120, Cooking 120, Detect Hidden 120, Disarm Trap 120, Fishing 120, Focus 120, Inscribe 120, Item ID 120++, Mining 120, Remove Trap 100,  Tailor 120, Tinkering 120, Wrestling 120 (these are ones that I thought would apply to such a skill & this would also make Item ID needed & Augs are already ingame.)
3. Items required per use: 1 Travesty Eye, 1 Kas Skull, 1 Crimson Cincture, 1 Horn of the Dread (trying to use items ingame, semi-rare, that you cant just accidentally get*shrugs*)
4. Luck, of course.
5. 1 "GM's Blessing", a new items to be made available off of the Brit banks Vendor stone for 10 ED.
6. How it will work: Have all items on characters main backpack, use the Item ID skill & target item with the sockets you want to empty. The player gets to choose which sockets to empty (no randomizing), but its its as Aug, that is a 3 socket, you have to have three sets of "mats" to do empty it. The key issue is, weather 1. you get the aug back, or 2. will you destroy the Socket itself, never the item that the socket is attached to. The higher the Item ID & Luck, the higher the chance for total success.

This idea came to me because It would help cut down demand on a GMs time & assist players on keeping their valuable gear, that in some cases, is non-replaceable.

How'd I do, any good for an idea?

Im trying, *giggles*

Now this is an idea I like.

Especially using the in game items that are also common peerless items, giving those items increased value and importance as well.

OMG! Thank you!

According to Wiki updates, We are being allowed to "Wipe Sockets" for 50 ED, but we will NOT get the augs back, but this helps keep very rare gear available for us, just be forewarned, you do not get the augs back, nor can you say "Oppsie, I didnt mean to", after the fact.

This is a wonderful addition, please, everyone, just be polite & patient & never be abusive to our Wonderful Staff!

This is a really good idea.

I believe Kane has something like this on his list, though, so if you don't hear from the Dev's...  remember a true magician never tells you the secret to his tricks, at least not all of them, anyways.

My two cents would be two fold.

First, I'd keep things simple, fair and direct. People play here for free, so with that in mind, how about something that isn't to hard to get a hold of--in game-- that just clears an item of all augmentations socketed into it. (this is the fast and easy method to remove and apply new augmentations) The old augmentations are lost of course, in this process.

Second, I'd ask Kane do exactly like you mentioned, but instead of extracting an augmentation, I think it should replace it. If that is not possible due to socket costs an option box should appear asking first if you want to go ahead with the replacement; and second asking for X amount of gold. The--hefty-- gold cost awards you the aumentation you didn't want to replace (only one) and the other augmentations are replaced-- or lost-- in the finalizing of the process.

In retrospect, the idea to apply skills as a requirement in your idea, Sage, is brilliant; though I'm not sure all of the trade skills need to be required. It should depend on what trade skill, or skills, was/were used to create the item, or might have been used to create the item. (artifacts) If I craft a viking sword, and than augment it, I shouldn't need to have 120 tailoring, at least not in my opinion.

Also, I'm not for the idea of having to collect, medium, or hard to get, items like travesties eye, in order to change out my augmentations. That's just me though, and it might cause a riot.

However, if i had to get travesties eye to create a piece of armor, or to create a new augmentation, (which could only go into my helm) I'd be down for that and might even have a reason to kill travesty-- if not donate... (laughs)  8)

That's all I've got... once again good idea Sage.  ;)

   --Sturger--

P.S. anyone got change for 2 cents?

The addition of the 50ed wipe of augs is completely fine in my opinion. I don't think we need any other additions to that system. There should be some loss when "fixing" gear. Not keeping the augs we pay to remove is that price for our mistake.

Is it really a mistake when the game's backbone for skills changes?  IE- These damned useless Parry Augments in my Bushido Gear.  *grumbles*

i like this idea... at least something along these lines.
i was thinking it would be helpful for staff, well Dante in particular, save him a lot of time, if we could buy a 5-use (or so) item from the ED stone in brit bank, or something, that allowed us to remove the sockets of our choosing on our own, without having to get staff involved.
i know when you have a gem socketed on an item, and you item ID it, then click on the gem from the gump menu that shows up, it gives a description of what the augment does, but some of them mention it in the description that they "can be recovered", so the idea has clearly at least been tossed around before. would be a good addition to the game, imo
