I would realy love having ointments for hp, stam, mana and AR. My elder WW would like that too! And for some reason im trying to understand why the resist ointments will raise by 5 points when the str, dex and int will only give 1 point at a time. My thinking is that resists are usualy under the cap by an average of 20 points when str, dex or int could be under cap by the hundreds.

Fully agree on all accounts.

Agree as well. If the ointments were easier to create (like pet dye) i could see the 1 pt, than you just make 100 potions. But the amount of time and resources needed to create a tonic, for the return of 1 pt of str/dex/int when one death can result in a loss of 30+ pts. just not feasible. Lets just get rid of stat loss on Pets!

Without risk, there is no reward.

I do not tame that much in UO. To be honest, I have yet to tame anything on this free-shard. I would like to point out, and believe, that the Dev's, Gm's, and Admins, that run this server, know what they are doing.

What is, is; which leaves what isn't wishful at best.

Honestly, I was not seriously thinking they would remove statlosss. I guess I should have added a  ;)  or something!
This is a SUGGESTION forum. Even if i was being serious, it would have been that...a suggestion.
I agree the people that run this server do a fine job, including listening to input from players. You dont tame. You have not tamed on this shard.  Why even respond to the post? just to cheerlead and post some wishful thinking quotes?

For me pet stat loss has killed my interest in playing. When I play I want to kill stuff. And when my pet dies, I dont have time to go take a knife and hack at trees for hours to fix it. Sure I could just tame more things. But what about that pet I paid 500ed +100ed to get to lvl 45? Not easilly replacable.

So instead of exploring and attempting harder and harder things when I log in, I have resorted to killing Fire Steeds and Balrons. Quite boring. Boring to the point I barely even adventure anymore :(

Thats my 2 cents on the topic.
Well the stat loss is to make players consider the risk vs reward and not just stomp the entire shard.  The loss is to try and add some balance so players dont endlessly camp top treasure/mobs and add some "pucker up" moments which adds to the excitement of the game!

Psynthrax, to prevent pet death, I'd make myself a shrink macro.

-"All follow me"
-Double click leash
-Target said pet

Get the timing down with an easy to remember macro and you'll rarely, if ever, have that fancy pet die again.

This to me doesnt add up.
As you, I also like to kill stuff but part of the joy in killing tougher mobs is figuring out how to deal with them, I can count on my hands the times my vollems have died and every time they have it has been because i was careless or had a faulty tactic for the monster in question.
Having the pets die is part of the risk versus reward though and for me the joy in being able to kill something trumps any time i have to farm herbs to restore loss of stats.
Also the more you kill something the better you get at it, I used to die alot to CaoCao for example but nowadays neither myself nor my pets are in any danger of dieing, not due to better gear but better tactics and use of ingame mechanics.

Alot of monsters for example can be Discorded which reduces their skills and thus their chance to hit your pets, that alone makes sure your pets stay alive longer. Another trick I use is doublehealing. I.E first applying a bandage and immediately after casting a greater heal or touch of life, for easier application of this I have it macroed in Assistuo so depending on the difficulty of the monster I either doubleheal or just use bandages.
Some monsters also seem to eat pets for breakfast while they dont hit you nearly as hard, for those I use myself as tank and the pets purely as damagedealers while I tank and heal myself instead.
Get creative and you'll see most monsters are soloable and enjoyable.

Well said, tyvm for the post

Im wondering how this became a debate about pets losing stats when dying, all i want are ointments to max out stam, hp and mana! Its not the right section for a debate, its a suggestion tread so keep it constructive please.  :P

That does work great.
if its a rideable, you can also "all follow me" and mount it for a last minute save.

Sorry mate, on topic I'd definitely want all stats to be ointable, and in addition to that it would be interesting having different strengths. Lesser, normal and greater for example, +1 +3 +5 with exponentially more resources needed.

Dreadwolf,

Just because I don't tame much or at all, doesn't mean I know nothing of how taming works. I have plenty of friends who have been tamers since day one open beta on a OSI pay shard. I have also leveled the skill to gm on a pay server; which by the way is vastly harder then skill balling it, or making taming accessories from 60 skill on.

My response of: "Without risk, there is no reward, was only ment for the "No stat loss at all," idea  which you posted.

I am sorry if I upset you, but this forums page also allows me to post my opinions as well.  No hard feelings, just two differeing opinions colliding at 100 MPH.  8)

I was never debating outside the topic field. If a change is made and stat loss is taken away, your wishes are pointless, as you will no longer have a need for ointments to heal your pets stat loss.

Secondly, in my first post I said the following:

"I would like to point out, and believe, that the Dev's, Gm's, and Admins, that run this server, know what they are doing."

I was trying to imply this towards your wish of:

I would realy love having ointments for hp, stam, mana and AR.

Perhaps having those kind of ointments would ruin the new breeding system they just created/fixed. It may also make pets overpowered once again.

Also, do forgive me it has been awhile. But are pets not able to raise str, dex, and int through the use of skills?

Thanks for hearing me out.

I believe pets can only improve their stats through combat to 125. So not too great compared to something starting out with far higher stats.

1) Go read my post again, im asking for hp, stam and mana oints not str, dex and int which already exist!
2) Cant have an over powered pet if theres a hard cap of 1200/300/1200 and 2000/1000/2000, so having all kinds of ointments wont change anything to the new system, im not trying to go over cap but just to reach it!

I agree with Thorgal, there are many herbs that are available but not in use, maybe some of these could be used for hp, sta, mana.

Nods

In that case Thorgal, I apologize. Your idea seems fair.
