I have only been on this server since Christmas. Since then, I have gm'd (and some further) most of my skills. Now I am in the mood to head out and kill stuff - Good ole' Dungeon runs. One thing I am noticing in many of these dungeons are mobs that are incredibly more difficult than the rest of the mobs. This I like, because it makes me work my character and her skills in order to survive. There's however a major downside to this. I may spend 5, 10, 15 minutes fighting a very dangerous mob only to make out with about 1,200 gold, some gems and reagents, maybe an artifact. This makes fighting these mobs not worth the time and effort it takes to kill them. This, in turn, makes a lot of the dungeons out there not worth traversing. There's just nothing worth going in there for. Sure, there's more gold, but that just doesn't take the cake on its own. It leaves me wishing I had never started that fight and makes me second guess starting a fight with an unfamiliar mob in the future, because it just wasn't worth it the last two times.

We do have a lot of "broken" content due to an unfortunate revert.  I am working on adding back the missing items and quests in each dungeon.  Take a look at the peerless quest line and many of the collectors quests.  They will all be similar to that again.  Expo is also working on new content for each dungeon to make them "worth" doing.  You must remember, we cant make all the content too hard, we do need new player content.  FYI many of the mobs have a rare drop, usually 33% so you may have to kill many times to see results

With player made weapons and armor, 90% of artifacts are pointless. That makes having them be the reward pointless as well. (we will bring back the artifact recycle barrel)So, to fight a stronger mob just to get 3% possibility of a drop, again is pointless. I feel there needs to be some more flare there - There needs to be something worth fighting for. Right now, there isn't. If the only mob out there worth fighting is a tyrant (from what I'm gathering from the player base), then I might as well just run the length of the dungeon and look for one, then kill one if I find it. If not, I leave. There is no other point to PvM than this. So, why not add something in to other mobs that revitalize the mob scene and get people interested in dungeon crawling again?


If I'm missing something, please let me know, because right now I'm rather disappointed with the dungeon scene. Am I alone here?

I agree. Thats why I don't spend a lot of my time farming. I'll go to fel dungeons, get through most of the levels, hope to spot a treasure chest (ya know the ones with a good stuff in them), get bored or frustrated and then i'll go do something else.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of reward for the newer players. Crap sells for 1 mil+ and its mind boggling. People say OH, its not that hard, eventually money will come really easy. I am still so squishy. I hate stats, can't figure them out, dont know what really useful. I can't even begin to do champs on my own, I dunno what there is to do other than dungeons, especially on this shard. The whole of my UO game play is basically design, craft, deco. lol

ive always fealt a lot of the base content on evo is out of place compared to the custom content and notice some custom mobs just seem like an abandoned project.

covetous, hythloth, deceit and wrong need something done to them. something as simple as an item collection quest or a vendor stone using currency found in that particular dungeon could give the custom and standard mobs in there some purpose.

Blighted grove could be toned down a tad. we dont need 5 tyrant abcesses or 10 coils in such a small area. sounds like a cool way to terrorize an event or something but a little overkill for a hunting grounds.


a lot of the paragon and tyrant artifacts just need to cease to exist or give us a barrel to drop them in besides the trash barrel.

the crafting recipe system could use some updating. this would add a lot of value to the peerless regs and other ingredients needed.

also loot goblins were a big hit before. just sayin. :D

     We might be jumping the gun on this conversation though, Expo had stated (and I'm not gonna look up the post to quote him directly, sorry) that now that the holidays are over he can get back to working on the dungeon revamps. Yes Expo is working on making the dungeons more exciting

Despise is an entry level dungeon and from what I have seen works nicely. I am assuming the other dungeons are the same. I make all my money dungeon crawling since I feel that champ spawns are insanely boring. I pick one dungeon a day and clean it out 100%. It can be done fairly quickly and painlessly, and I usually net about 100-200k, depending on the size of the dungeon.

     Keep in mind, I loot everything of value. I also tame any level 30 animals I run across to be sold or toyed with later. I find that the biggest complaint I hear in reguards to Evo is that the spawns are slow enough that you can't bunker down in one area and make any serious gold. I agree that is true, but its almost as lazy as people who were doing champ spawns afk. Sometimes you have to get out there and put in some serious work. When I first joined Evo, I didn't have a guild or a group of friends to get me where I needed to be, so I just went and terrorized Sorcerer's Dungeon in Ilshenar. I bought myself a vendor (which eventually became 4 vendors) called the 999 store and I dumped everything I found on them with a default price of 999. They netted me about 500k a day just selling off all the nonsense that I picked up. Yeah I was new and I know for a fact that some of the items i sold were seriously undervalued, but my point remains the same. I made ALOT of money in a short amount of time.

     The best part is this, players that say dungeon farming is pointless are the main reason why I can make so much gold. There is a ton of gold walking around in the dungeons, and as long as no one is willing to go get it, I'll be more than happy to do so.

     Side Notes: If you're looking for a dungeon with nice loot, my last dalliance with the insane tinker dungeon netted me a value of 1.75 million. Maybe I just got lucky though. As for Blighted grove, the massive amount of satyrs in the next room is just silly sometimes. They're needs to be a limit as to how many can spawn I think. I can handle the rest though. Also just because a monster has a special name or hue doesn't mean it needs to have a purpose outside of being tougher than its kin. I'd like to see more named (tougher) versions of monsters as I crawl through the dungeon levels. It adds a certain timbre to the dungeons that is important to atmosphere. Otherwise you might as well just scroll down through an excel spreadsheet for 3 months straight just to write "the most splendid gear of all, everyone loves me, my house is the best, and I'm a god of pvp", while talking to a group of friends doing the same.

     The only problem I see with loot in the game is that the Stygian Dragon gave me a whopping 458 gold. I understand they have a chance to drop nice stuff, but I'd love to do the math and see which would be faster, killing ancient dragons or just farming dungeon monsters, and see which method nets me something nice first.

I feel that the problem lies with the fact that, like was stated, there is a gap between difficulty to where you either destroy the mobs, or get devastated by them.. We need a gradation..

Also, I would like to see the implementation of old school Khaldun puzzle locks again. I miss those things.


Yes we are working on some new player and mid level player content.  Kane has many good ideas for some "intelligent" content.  Lots of fun content coming up this year

Please do not bring back the artifact bucket!  those artifacts can be farmed via exploit. 


 I was told the bucket wouldn't be returning, but now I will have to start hoarding them again, increasing the item count (Sorry Kane).


Yes we were aware of the exploits, that's the reson we don't have it in game atm:)

Yes... I am working on updating the "classic" dungeons. If you check out Despise, there is some sort of contamination spreading throughout the dungeon. My aim is to have something to work for in each dungeon, also some item to collect in each dungeon, similar to our custom Peerless system.

There is already quite a bit of "end game" content, especially with the latest addition of the Tokuno Belts, that is why I am working on making the transition between new player and vet a little easier. One big problem is folks giving away high end gear to new players that haven't even begun to understand the game. This makes equipment progression nearly impossible to maintain and most folks just want "the best gear for X".

Also time. Time is always the issue, since remaking the 8 classic dungeons takes exactly that... lots of time. Decorating, scripting, testing, etc.

We're getting there but this year will see many great new additions.

I have been working on a new system that should make these dungeons quite interesting and appealing to different playstyles.

  Does the system include cross over mechanics? Like you need to wear, eat, or throw a poison mushroom in order to kill a boss in say Deceit?

   Stuff like this doesn't need to be at the boss level, of course, but having stuff cross over from one, or more, dungeons into the next means we will keep going back. 

  I'd hate for new and Vet players to be one and done with all the hard work you do.
