I have only been on this server since Christmas. Since then, I have gm'd (and some further) most of my skills. Now I am in the mood to head out and kill stuff - Good ole' Dungeon runs. One thing I am noticing in many of these dungeons are mobs that are incredibly more difficult than the rest of the mobs. This I like, because it makes me work my character and her skills in order to survive. There's however a major downside to this. I may spend 5, 10, 15 minutes fighting a very dangerous mob only to make out with about 1,200 gold, some gems and reagents, maybe an artifact. This makes fighting these mobs not worth the time and effort it takes to kill them. This, in turn, makes a lot of the dungeons out there not worth traversing. There's just nothing worth going in there for. Sure, there's more gold, but that just doesn't take the cake on its own. It leaves me wishing I had never started that fight and makes me second guess starting a fight with an unfamiliar mob in the future, because it just wasn't worth it the last two times.
We do have a lot of "broken" content due to an unfortunate revert. I am working on adding back the missing items and quests in each dungeon. Take a look at the peerless quest line and many of the collectors quests. They will all be similar to that again. Expo is also working on new content for each dungeon to make them "worth" doing. You must remember, we cant make all the content too hard, we do need new player content. FYI many of the mobs have a rare drop, usually 33% so you may have to kill many times to see results
With player made weapons and armor, 90% of artifacts are pointless. That makes having them be the reward pointless as well. (we will bring back the artifact recycle barrel)So, to fight a stronger mob just to get 3% possibility of a drop, again is pointless. I feel there needs to be some more flare there - There needs to be something worth fighting for. Right now, there isn't. If the only mob out there worth fighting is a tyrant (from what I'm gathering from the player base), then I might as well just run the length of the dungeon and look for one, then kill one if I find it. If not, I leave. There is no other point to PvM than this. So, why not add something in to other mobs that revitalize the mob scene and get people interested in dungeon crawling again?
If I'm missing something, please let me know, because right now I'm rather disappointed with the dungeon scene. Am I alone here?
