Today I noticed something I had not noticed before on the gold vendor stone at the King's Men Theater. The Life Of The Traveling Minstrel talisman is nice, but with +5 musicianship and +5 provocation it seems lacking in my opinion to the many other talismans out there.
Sure I could socket the talisman for a few more improvements but it might still fall short to a Veterans players standards.
The thing is I want the talisman, but I want it to also get better soon-- so to speak. It looks sick to me, like it is getting over a cold, and I wonder what it might look like when it is at full strength.
So I purpose a new item category; one that levels up but not like items have before. This kind of item levels up, but the properties are randomized and granted immediately up item level up.
As it stands a weapon can level up 99/100 times. Lets leave weapons out of my example and use the talisman I mentioned before.
Example:
Imagine Kane has done as I have mentioned, and I buy this talisman. The first thing I notice is that I still have a talisman with +5 musicianship and +5 provocation as a base bonus. Next, I notice the talisman has 21 of 50 levels obtained listed as its final property for us players to see. {at the bottom of the items property list of course}
Now, I have read the update post Kane left for us on Friday of future coming, and he has explained that the new leveling system may cost X amount of 'Total Item Levels' prior to actual use. A random roll was generated and 21 levels were the cost of the +5 musicianship & +5 provocation bonuses. {tough luck there, but it gets better}
After grumbling about my [Blank] [Blankitty] [Blank] luck, I grudgingly don the talisman and scramble off to take my frustrations out on something evil.
Finally, after an hour-- or so-- my frustrations diminished-- and my talisman leveled up to 22-- I check my new talisman for an information toggle button; but there isn't one. Oops, I forgot there isn't going to be one. I had asked Kane to make the new levelable items level up at random. With that thought I hover over my talisman and grin with delight. It now reads: +5 musicianship & +10 provocation. {woot a whole +5 bonus... I told you it got better}
(Note: the high cost for the base bonus-- in levels-- at the start of the example is the reason why such a large bonus was granted after only gaining one level on the talisman. This doesn't mean the bonuses will stay similar but they could, If Kane wanted it so) {which I doubt, since this initial bonus could be due to the best possible case scenario. Winning the lottery you could say}
As for the rest:
I leave the details to Dante, Kane, and their awesome team. I'd like to see levelable everything's-- especially the things that make sense. Armor-- Dah!-- please.
If a few quest reward items were added to this system I would add gold/tokens as an addition cost to leveling the item; each level.
Think purchased from a gold vendor stone-- with reasonable costs-- when you add this content please. No one should have to pay for fun, only if they want that fun their way. {guess i'll have to pay some one if this idea rolls out, since it is technically my way}
Disclaimer --- if this is on your short or long list Kane.. sorry. I didn't know... (hides) I wasn't looking... (death cry, ghost speak)
--Sturger--
P.S. I don't expect armor items to have 100 levels.. 10 to 20 will do. {think long list of property options, with medium bonuses at best}
