I am wanting to see if there is any interest in a crafting section and a sub section for each type of crafting for the forums.


A lot of the information for crafting I have to gather from multiple sites and then figure out what is relevant to UO Evolution.  The wiki, unfortunately, does not cover the little things that I want to know nor does it have any deep testing conducted by the players for crafting.


Being able to locate relevant info can be annoying for me.  I do a lot of reading when I have a smoke break.  After that I usually ask a lot of questions on TeamSpeak.


If you ever have new info or links, just write it up and ill add to the wiki - Dante

I would find it interesting - and anything there could feed into the wiki to flesh it out as well.

I would need more cash than most players to be able to conduct any serious testing on the crafting. As each crafting suit would have to be custom made, in order to achieve multiple different rations between crafting skill and arms lore and any other skills that may affect the results.


I am interested in seeing the proper ration between arms lore and blacksmithing/bow crafting/tinkering to achieve the maximum intensity. That would then develop further into each type based on which runic tool is used and if that ratio would change at all.

  I suggest starting up a donation forums page, with the idea of testing crafting, since we don't have a PTR on EVO yet. On this forums page; post your intentions about figuring out the percentage ratio's contributed by XYZ crafting skills, and the tools used to get the best results. In addition, ask for material donations-- or information donations-- for information gathering, by trial and error. Make sure to post results on a regular basis and offer to post the names of donators on a footer forum page under the posted information to date section. 

  It may or may not work, but you would probably get some free materials, and no one would be mad as long as you posted some results.

 

   It's an idea I had about your good idea. I would donate materials, but I'd want them to be used for testing Tailoring.


  Pm me if you start the project. I was planning on revamping the basic information for Evo's wiki crafting pages, anyways. (as long as I stay healthy)  So, while I do that, you could be doing what you mentioned.

Not a bad idea about asking for donations of materials and items to test with.  I'm horrible about things like that honestly.  Now writing a solid lab report on the results I can do with no problem.  My Engineering class taught me how to write them in the proper format, Unfortunetly I tend to write them in great length, lol.


So many ideas going they my head on how I could do this.  I will see what I can come up with.  Yes tailoring would be tested as well.  Also definitely want to test tinker jewellery crafting to see what can be done with that and a perfect suit for it.

with the suit i have, im at 260 arms lore, 160 smith, 4000 luck and out of 75 platinum and 185 electrum charges i got one triple leech axe.

From discussions with Reside and Sheana, it seems they receive the best results from 240 Arms lore and as high a crafting skill as they can achieve. With the socketed gear the skill level can get to be near or above 400.  I will have to talk with them more to see what gear they use for Armor and what it is socketed with.


Eventually I will get my own crafting suit built, 1st will be tinker (will be an old suit as different items needs some side skills as well) 2nd tailor, then blacksmithing and bower/fletching.
Experimenting with various other skills I may do as well.


I have no idea if alchemy and cooking would need a full suit like the other crafting professions do currently.  But eventually I will test them out as well.


Doubt I could talk the Devs into giving me everything to test the systems with unfortunetly, lol.  Also I understand that there are upcoming changes to the crafting systems, so the testing may change as a result.

New suit. 380 arms lore, 220 blacksmith, 6450 luck. Make a beast axe every 50 runics or so.

  They wouldn't be giving you the materials to have... they would be generating them for testing only...


  Kane is a busy guy, so that might be a reason for them not to do it, since he would have to figure out how to do this and that to a new character for your account, that made items-- your toon crafted-- account bound to your test crafting toon. (wouldn't want you to profit from free materials)

I would love this section, as it would help me learn about using the skills I have gotten to actually make money. It seems player crafted items are not in much demand the way I knew them to be.

Some player crafted items are in demand (mainly weapons) other particularly from tailor, armor crafting and 9/10 of tinker or not unfortunetly.
