I found the iron beetle on the shard and was doing a happy dance. When I got to my house and went to see its backpack to my surprise there was none lol. I have played on a fe shards with this beetle and it is an amazing pet. Not only does it help to mine but it does some good guarding as well. I sure would love to see this pet get scripted in as it was meant to be as it is a very nice pet to have...Thanks for listening.  ;D

Thanks Abbie, I'm not very familiar with the "iron beetle" could you give me some information on what is good about this pet? I'd love to be able to replicate it for you :)

Is a pack animal who mines.  Put a shovel in the backpack and the iron beetle will mine ore up when standing on cave floor.  He won't pick up the ore, but leaves it behind him.  Can be trained up as an awesome melee fighter, perfect for taking on ore elementals.  Samples the ore he digs up occasionally, taking on that hue.  Prone to anxiety attacks when not standing on cave floor..."I cannot mine here, I cannot mine here".  [size=78%]Since the iron beetle can't read, it's impossible for him to learn how to mine granite.[/size]

HAHA!  That Iron Beetle seems pretty cool!  Love that the big guy has anxiety when not in his natural cave element!  I want one!

too bad they are 4 slot pets (on OSI at least).  I would love to have a herd of these little guys just tossing a cave and me picking up all of the ore.


Sadly it would not be the most effective method.  They will have a mining skill cap (120?).  Mean while on Evo in order to ensure you mine the top ore you need a 159 skill (mine without fail).  At 120 skill you fail to dig platinum most of the time.


Now if a quest or something was added (trade skill quest anyone, I have some ideas) that allowed you to trade in your iron beetle for one with a higher mining skill these could be a very welcome addition to my current pets.


This would also give people a reason to mine for real instead of recall mining (which leads to un-attended resource gathering) if the pets had some added function.  I am thinking like % chance to prospect on a single dig.

They are in the north west corner of underworld (close to Navrey's lair).  At least they were on the production servers.
