Lately I've been thinking a lot about when I played EQ; for the third time.
By that time most of the bugs were long gone, and a crap ton of expansions and free [new] content had been added.
The first run through was a pain, like it should be, cause you just have no idea what's truly going on.
By the third time through, however, the development team came out with a rather neat concept, pertaining to armor.
Basically a new player first gathers some quest armor; about X number of pieces; which takes about X number of levels to obtain; 20 levels usually.
[The idea I wish to share is the second set of armor I wore, as a ranger, from level 20 to about level 42]
So I had my, Ranger, armor set, and I was kind of attached to it, but after a few levels more, I began to notice that my armor wasn't cutting it.
I had found a few more quests appropriate for my level, but by this time I just zipped through the quest conversations, without really reading them through. I was kind of mad, because I did take notice of the quest rewards for turning them in, and most of the rewards were replacement armor pieces, which would form another set of higher level ranger armor for me. The reason I was mad, was thinking about all the hours I had spent to get some rather awesome armor, just to replace it shortly afterwords. But I pushed on, what else could I do.
The neat [concept], which I mentioned earlier, happened shortly after I turned the first quest in for one of the new armor pieces. What I mean is, when I tried to. The message said that I was missing something, so I checked it out and to my delight I found out that the missing piece was one of my older pieces of armor from when I was level 19.
[That's pretty much my idea. If the Dev's wish to make new stuff, or change the values of an older set; I vote that it requires old pieces of armor in the recipe, which then creates something new]
This exhaustion of items that already exist in game will give them a real reason to be in the game. This concept should also give the economy a boost, as it will no doubt cause trade, as well as cost materials to craft/make the new items out of the old ones.
How all of this is done, I leave up to Kyn, Dante, Keldon, and the Dev's who keep bringing us the best Shard ever.
Thanks for reading.
