Although I'm new to this shard and I am enjoying it,.. I do miss My Donation only Everlasting Bandage. Curious if this might be a possibility here in the future. :)?

  Sounds neat.  :)

However, in the interest of building economy, I must vote-- Nay.

I for one believe that if you are going to donate for something, it should be true charity. However, I am not against being given gifts from those who collect those donations. In that regard my view continues with the thought that such gifts should not contribute to laziness, or grant players an edge over another.

As the ability to bandaged oneself, or their pet, is no where close to being an advantage-- over some one-- since all can do so. It is the laziness factor, that rubs me the wrong way, here. That being said I will leave it on that thought and not ponder anything further into it.

  --Sturger--  :)

P.S. if anyone needs bandages, just let me know, in game, I sell them for 2 gold each. 5k bandages at 3 gold pieces each. Then prices go up a gold piece every 5k increment after that. (So yeah 9999 bandages at 3 gold pieces each; 10k bandages at 4 gold pieces each, ect.)

Time is money, friend.  8)

I actually really like the idea of as an Everlasting Bandage.  I know other realms have it so it is possible.  I understand part of the fun of the game is collecting resources but this is on par with storage keys.   Maybe adding a storage space for bandages would be a solution too.

I don't consider this suggestion "lazy" but more of a "quality of life" bonus instead of having to replace and gather bandages all the time!  It's kind of like personal teleporter and bank crystals: improvements on the quality of life!

Just so everyone knows, there are storage keys for bandages. They are known as Adventures boots.

I'll look into where you can purchase them after I post this.

In addition, I'd like to mention that I would personally like it if all weapons and armor didn't have durability loss. However, I know that would be a bad idea, be cause if nothing breaks-- or runs out-- who is going to supply the items the shard needs; since nothing will run out or break? What about the economy? It's important.

Stamps are rather inexspensive, but if everyone got them for free, the government would be down the drain. Those pennies add up, to form a good chunk of the US's economy. It's the little things that stand tall above the rest. Take away those little things, and Lazy is no longer spelled with an L, instead its spelled Doom.

Sturger, do you really think that having an "everlasting gobbstopper" (band-aid) would break the economy?  Really?  How many bandages do you sell a month?

Look at it this way, if an item like the everlasting bandage would cause a demand, and it were only offered via a quest (that required specific rare drops or items) or ED, wouldn't that CREATE a market, and even bolster the market for our already over-saturated ED?

    @ Emperor_Norton

First I'd like to ask you how many band-aids you buy a month-- or craft on your own?

Now add this information to the list:

  Pros: Everlasting band-aid...

Always have a band-aid on hand

Decreases the ED count spread across the EVO shard by -Y- ED's x -Z- players

Time, weight, & gold sink contributed to making, buying, and carrying bandages = gone

  Cons: Everlasting band-aid

Band-aids go the way of the arrow or bolt  (bag trash)

Any economical value bandages had for the EVO economy   (diminished by half)

Loom and spinning wheel have one less reason for being in game   (devolution)

Time, weight, & gold sink contributed to making, buying, and carrying bandages = gone

Kane's time wasted on fixing something that's not broken  (IMO of course)

Yet again; another item, found as loot, left behind on corpse   (further devolution)

I probably could go on, and add to both lists, if I truly felt the need to bash this topic to death. I, however, do not wish to waste my time-- or the readers-- any more then necessary to establish/develop my opinion and answer your questions Norton.

As to your second question, I see your point; and it would seem wise. But I must counter, however, with --You can't pay Paul with money borrowed from Jill--.

Killing off the bandage-- to decrease the ED count-- is not a valid solution to the problem being faced by the over abundance of ED's on the shard.

IMO, there is only one fair and justified solution too that problem, but Dante is perhaps to nice of a guy to pull that trigger.

The solution I'm speaking of is making players spend those ED's with an ultimatum. You the people of EVO shard have until day X to spend your current reserve of ED's. At which time we will start implementing a new ED. Do not fret, we are not heartless. Should you fail to spend  all your old ED's by day X we will buy them from you with new ED's at a rate of 2 old ED's for one new ED.

Wow, I pulled one trigger, and after a reasonable amount of time-- set by staff-- I cut the ED problem in half and no one can complain with tangible reason. Why? Because this is Dante's "Free" shard for starters. All ED's were given as gifts to those who donated, charitable, monies towards keeping the shard running-- not to purchase things, or a VIP pass--
   And if you have a horde of ED's & fail to spend them within say 2 to 3 months time, you only have yourself to blame. {Disclaimer = there are always some exceptions, but that's up to Dante}

So yeah, it only took the fact that I can't make zilch on selling arrows and bolts for me to come to this conclusion/opinion Norton. Everlasting anything is the start of shard devolution.

   --Sturger--

P.S. I have yet to sell bandages on this shard; but I have sold bandages, arrows, and bolts on OSI-- and other free shards-- throughout my UO career. So I know a thing or two, wouldn't you say-- economically?

0.  I have purchased a total of -zero- bandages since playing on this shard.  I did buy several hundred thousand gold worth of reagents before I had an adequate amount of LRC and a Reag Key.  Are those two inventions any different than an "ever lasting bandage"?

Umm, not sure I want to jump in the middle of this but, what about a temporary everlasting bandage? I know that sounds oxymoronic, but the theory is that you could purchase an everlasting bandage that has a life span of one month. Make it a 50-100ED item, with a bonus of 5hp healed per bandage used as to make it better than the average bandage. Players could purchase it easy enough without it being game breaking and.... here's the best part. It could be used with Dante's incentive program for re-occurring monthly donation. I would bind it to the first character that used it and make it non-moveable, but prior to that first use it could still be traded. oh and i would make the lifespan timer start along with the first use. Of course the everlasting part isn't actually true at this point, but it's an interesting concept.

  @ Emperor Norton

The answer would be no to your question. The reagent keys and LRC suits do not however allow you to instantly heal yourself when stunned, poisoned, bleeding, near death, shaken, soiled, or angry.

People want an everlasting bandage. I get it, but its the wrong idea/way. Your asking Dante and Kane to make a whole new system to replace a system that is not broken.

My point of view is to work with what is already available, and help it to Evolve-- not throw it into a pit of stagnation.

Adventurer's boots can hold 1 shy of 100k bandages-- but unlike the reagent keys-- resources have not been coded for consumption from the boots. I'm sure Kane could make it so bandage-self pulled bandages from the adventures boots. Then all any one has to do is buy, create, or collect/steal bandages to add to the adventuring boots.

  There, in theory, you have found an everlasting bandage. It has left the potential for economic value-- pretaining to bandage sales-- alone and gave the masses what they wanted-- more lazy-- everlasting bandages. {I'm just fun'in you on the lazy part}

  No ED's required.

  @ Volundr

I'm not for or against your idea. However, the fact that there is risk versus reward clearly makes it worth something more then an actual true everlasting bandage.

  Controversy, Perhaps.

I like to think of it as intellectual conversation, soaked in multiple opinions, served with a side of cheese. {just in case any one has wine}  8)
