Hello all,

Don't know if this has been brought up yet or even if its implemented. But i think a nice donation chest were a player such as i who no longer need items can donate for the next new player? I was thinking something that perhaps only avalable to new players after maybe like 1 day of playing to prevent does who join the shard for a hour and never come back so items are not lost for ever.

Any thoughts?

They had this in the past and it caused a great deal of problems.  Some less than decent people were putting so much crap into them that the server would crash.  Most times the recycle program is going into the training elemental room and just unloading on the ground there.

This is a good idea, but that's why we have a NEW player guild leader. They should being collect some newbie gear and handing it out.

However, perhaps a donation FUND rather then items would be better?

50k gold is plenty of gold to start off with, but it doesn't buy a nice house plot.

  Just my thought.

To much help to the new players takes out a lot of fun of the whole game.

Help in the form of answering their questions. Assisting them in a quest.  Take them out and show them the shard.
Show them the newbie dungeon explain about the green gems.

This is sooo much better then handing out gear, and items. Giving out house plots... not so much. That is one thing people work for.
Handing this stuff out in the beginning gives these people even less to work for.

And to keep people here. They need goals and things to work for.  If that is taken from them. Then why log on everyday?  Why play?
Ruins the fun.

I say this for the simple fact. I've actually had players come to me and say.. Please answer this question for me. But PLEASE do not give
me anything. I just need some questions answered. Not items.
I've gotten to much help. Now what do I do..

Yes I have actually heard those things.
So step back and think.. What can really keep these people here. Handing out items is NOT it. Showing them how they can do it themselves.. well that helps out a lot more.. And gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment.

It  was just an idea to hand down my gear i no longer need in the future. That i saw in another shard before i discovered in evo. I 100% agree about earning your stuff, but simple stuff to start you in the right path is great. I Got lucky Norton and other BUD guild members helped me out with questions and showing me the key quest to do to get started. I ininatly thought they were the newbie guild lol. I'm new still but willing to help any veteran or new player all they gotta do is ask :)

Didint mean to stir up the pot.

  @ Allestaria

I agree that players need to have goals, need to find their own gear Vs. handouts, and need a place/person to answer newbie questions for them.

  @ The Main Topic

However, giving new players 50k, a low level weapon, or a set of low level armor does not ruin anything for a new player, IMO. Rather it, should, show them there is indeed things to work for. That better stuff is out there. But of course it should be given sparingly.

Also, buying them their first house plot doesn't stop them from buying the other two plots, that an account is allotted, on their own. I'd like to point out that in my original post, I mentioned a house plot. Not buying new player's Lord British's Castle.

Though I appreciated his generosity, and he knows who he is; I was once offered 10 [+1] weapon leveling deeds, and 500k, for falling short at an Evasion, in Yew. I turned his generous off down, because I didn't want hand outs. It's not how I play. My point here is simple, offer what you can when there are new players in need. Not everyone can offer the same things. It is up to the new player to choose what they need, not us. Some new players get nothing, others get everything. Thus is life in UO-EVO...
