UO Evolution seems to be loaded with Archery weapons. Amazingly its a 2 handed weapon, but is the only group that can be used in conjunction with a shield without having to disarm in order to drink a potion. I haven't been around long enough to know if this discussion has taken place, but I have played on other shards where all weapon skills had the ability to "balance" their weapon. What would be the chance that we might be blessed with that option in the near future? It would be nice to see some diversity. Thanks for your time. -Des Sanct

 Hello, good idea.


 I for one think that we should be able to drink potions while holding a weapon, without it being taken off our paper-doll regardless of the balance ability on weaponry.

 Drinking a potion has a natural delay on it which means we are not attacking and gaining the benefit of the potion at the same time. For me that's enough of a penalty with regards to PvP and PvE.

There is Balanced for Bows. And there is a One Handed Weapon deed as well. I have several artifacts that I have turned into One handed weapons.

We've established bows have balance (Archery = Bow+Arrow) Balance allows you to consume potions without having to disarm a hand. A one handed deed, does exactly as it states. Allows a two handed weapon to be wielded using just one hand. All the one handed deed does is allow the ability to equip a shield, yet it doesn't allow to equip a shield and drink a potion. This is what Archery has to make it OP versus the other weapon skills. We also understand the Use Best Weapon Skill attribute but that would be an apples to oranges conflict.

From my perspective, what bows "have to make them OP" is not so much to do with balance, but more to do with Parry Damage Kits and Parry Chance Kits. 


Granted, the fix to Mortal Strike was a step in the right direction, but let's face it, melee is giving us it's death throws.  I've lost my battle against the Parry Damage Kits, and how they have slid the balance of PvP completely off the table, but if that Parry Damage Kit isn't going away, at the least make it available to melee weapons.


You know what would be even better?  If the Parry Damage Kits were available in game, to non-donating players too.


I see your point on Balance Des Sanct, but I don't see adding the ability to run a EUO script for pot chugging easier with a sword in hand to tip the scales in the favor of melee players...or even come close  (but yeah, a balanced Exceptionally Crafted Club WOULD be nice).

I never said bows were OP.
This wasn't about bows. This was about the main reason everyone uses a bow. If we were able to have balance on a weapon, then you would see more diversity in what is being played. Right now everyone is using the same cookie cutter setup. You can't blame them, its the best position for them that the server allows.
