This morning I realised there was a problem with the gen 6 Greater Dragon I was recently given by a friend.


If a pet, that has maxed out stats and resists, receives a trait that adds a bonus to its total health that bonus is still subject to the hard caps for health.  The gen 6 Greater Dragon with bonus health tier 1, is still limited to the 2,000 point cap for health.  Rendering the bonus pointless to attempt to breed into further generations.


I would assume that this will apply to all other stat and resist increase bonuses as a result.  Making it nearly pointless to breed for most bonuses as they are still capped at the same levels as a pet without the trait, therefore making only 3 traits desirable for breeding purposes.

  I cant verify this, because I think Kane said it while answering a question about the new taming stuff, but I believe old school pets are in a different category when it comes to the new tier stuff.

 I might be wrong; It was something I thought I saw Kane say, in world chat.


  What I do know is that all mobiles have this tier system built into them, now. Which means they all have a chance to get a Teir trait-- especially the MoB's that have respawned since the patches addition-- which is possibly why the Greater Dragon, Gen 6, got the tier ability. Can the Greater Dragon Benefit from it? I don't think so, because I think the idea is to allow all of us to have an equal playing field with this teir system. We are all at square one perhaps. But that's was my impression, so I don't know... I'm assuming again.

  I also know that there is more to come with this addition; and I place my faith in Kane.

  He isn't dull, why would he knowingly add the bonuses when he knows us min/maxers will boost our pets to full?

  This is his baby, he has spent a ton of time on it, he must have thought about this overlap. But if he hasn't good catch I guess. But my money is still on Kane.  8)


   That's all I have to say on that for now.

This generation was hatched after the patch was released, the reason it has the bonus health.  It just gives no real bonus to pets after the first few generations, since most will have reached the caps for a lot of stats and resistances.


If the bonus would increase the cap by that amount, if the trait is present, then it would be of more use to pets that are used for breeding.


A side note, the gap in ability points from perfect to strong or exceptional is very noticeable if you have a good taming/lore suit built.  Definitely going to have to invest in one when I get a chance, including some armor with lore Augments installed.  Wish there was taming and Vetinary augments as well.

as our conversations went the other night.

My Perfect Fire Steed got 207 Ablility Points

My 2 Uncommon Fire Steed both got 82 Ability Points

I leveled all 3  at same time and to level 10/30. It just shows the difference a mobs DNA strength can affect the ability points.
