hey guys,
i have a few (many) questions

- With the custom gear and everything i'm having a hard time putting together (and finding it ingame) a fighter suit (incl. weapon and shield). Any tips on what to collect/buy/make?

- i know not allot of people are willing to give info on it (judging from the silence when i ask in chat :p ), but what is considered to noob solo champ event? i would like to give it a try but with changes made on free shards i have no clue what is considered 'easy'.

- I've found allot of custom tameables on the wiki, but there are no locations listed. For instance i see allot of ice hounds on vendors, and i was wondering where i can find one to tame myself. Is there a sort of tameables guide specific for this shard?

Welcome to Evo.
Unfortunatly you won't find much help in tracking down tameables.  Most players on here are of the "I found it you didn't, it's mine not yours" mentality.  I'm not that way I just honestly don't know where most of the spawns are at.
As far as weapons/armor alot of it depends on how you are going to solo the champ.  You going to use pets, or melee it down.  I use a 100% lrc suit with a combo of 70 on all resists plus as much physical reflection I can get and I seem to hang in there quite nicely until the last rounds then it gets a little more fun.  I got to this mostly with trial and error so not even sure I'm doing it the "right" way according to others. 
If you need some armor give me a holler in game and I'll see if I can't help you out some.

For starter fighter gear, go check out the Zelda quest in quest castle on the moongate. The locations might be found in the rune library in Lord British's castle or in Cove. Mirror shield, green tunic, Zelda sword are some examples of the items. Better weapons will need to be player crafted and leveled.

Most of the champs are not too difficult, but slowly changes are being implemented to make solo champing more time consuming/difficult (good thing in my opinion). Despise is one of the easier ones to start with, but this also makes it universally popular.

The trapped ice hounds you see on vendors are found in a crystal that comes from tyrant chests. Hunting for the custom tameables is part of the fun, but there are a number of PvM guilds that should be able to help you out if you approach them.

The NEW guild hosts a champ couple times a week.  Typically the Master of Arts (crafter) variety.  This is the best place to practice and begin getting powerscrolls.  There are invasions twice a day announced by Town Criers.  While these are typical champ-type mobs and bosses, they are often so well attended that newer players can participate easily.  And if you do find yourself alone, a few lines in public chat often brings others running.

Pm me in game and I'd be happy to show you locations for anything you're looking for.  Most of the established guilds have members willing to mentor and help with gear.  It's often just a matter of getting in touch with the right ppl.  Be glad to help with that too.

Where is the Crafter champ located now?

The Crafter is found at the random rotating spawns in Felucca Lost Lands.

Ahh didn't know that thanks for the info =).  Also I noticed that there is a champ spawn point in Tram Despise has that been there long and is it active, I mean will it spawn from time to time.

That was added as a New Player Champ location and ordinarily isn't active otherwise. Pm me in game and I'll let you know when we are doing a Crafter champ

I have made a tame book for the public library that was supposed to be made...  had a lot of them in it, no idea if its up and running yet.

thx allot for the info supplied already. Tbh it would be great if the quests section on the wiki could be elaborated just a little. Perhaps some indication if it's worth doing subjective to the char (mage, fighter etc). I would be happy to know what the end reward(s) would be so i could judge wether i'm bothered or not

The problem so far on free shards - that i found - is that there's so much stuff to do, but barely any info on it. I'm running around like a headless chicken trying lots of stuff but bumping in camps or trying to find info how to do something - ending up circling even more

I guess i'm spoiled from WoW with a 'to the letter' guide for each thing. I have no complaints about the replies i get when asking for help tho. As far as free shards goes, this one offers so much, and a bunch of talkative helpfull people.
