Ahoy,

I am awful when it comes to color. I am looking for a tool or technique for figuring out colors I like (in game and out) and converting to something from the hue room (or as close as possible). I know AUO has a button that will allow me to see the hex(?) color code of an in-game object, but I don't know how to convert it. Here is an image with colors I would like to replicate in game. The armor color, the cape color, the pants and shirt color and the skin color. Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Schuyler

I'd have to say the first thought I have is, are you using the new hue file? It hasn't been integrated with the installer yet as far as i know, but here is a link to it on the forums. http://uoevolution.com/forum/index.php?topic=6612.msg17551#msg17551

After you get that the rest should be easy enough (and you'll find that not as many people are wearing black as you'd think).

Armor looks like 1175
Clothing looks like 1765
The cape was a little more difficult as it has a slight amount of purple in it. I'd suggest 2142 though.

I wish you luck and hope this helps.

Thank ye spainkevin79. I do have the new hue file installed and you are correct it does make a big difference.

I will give your color suggestions a go as I am sure they are closer than I would ever get. I may have to ask for your assistance on 2 more images if you wouldn't mind? I am using gimp and the color picker dropper to determine RGB and/or HEX, but as I said to my eyes all the colors start to run together on the screen so I am not good at visually converting those values into hue room values.

Happy Holidays,

Schuyler

Well boots in game show up darker than most clothing items so keep that in mind. I made a pair of boots to test these colors as I post them. All other colors i am testing on a plain dress.

Image 1
Boots: 743
Pants and Shirt: 351
Cloak: 897
Armor: 1863

Image 2
Cloak: 742
Jacket: 1645
Gloves: 1051
Pants: 1899
Hat: 1899

Some colors show degrees that are darker or more varied than uo possesses. I have given you the closest samples I can find by matching basic colors. Keep in mind though, that by using basic colors you will be missing out on alot of the custom colors. Some of them show highlights or have effects in them that are not found in basic colors and may be more suited to your purposes. At least now you have a general ballpark. I would recommend trying out some of the custom colors before settling on your setup. You may find a few that you would like to use to replace the current colors. Enjoy.
