On the OSI servers having 120 parry and 0 bushido gave a 35% chance to parry with a shield.  Having 120 in parry and bushido gave a 40% chance to parry with a 2 handed weapon but only like a 10 or 12% chance to parry with a shield.

Is this true on evolution also?  I would love to convert my axes to 1 handed and use some of these shields but I do not want to do it if I have to give up bushido.

If you convert to 1H it counts as a 1H wepon with parry and bushido.

I am not sure of the exact math behind the numbers, but yes this is also true here with Bushido/parry/shield. I had 85 bushido and was using a shield and 1-hand axe... I dropped bushido and now I parry much more oft with 200 parry, shield and a 1 handed...and using a shield allows another item for stat/skill bonuses

thank you for the replies.  I will have to keep that in mind as i go forward with gearing up my character.  I am still fairly new so I have a long ways to go still with all the custom items on this server.

you can always train bushido to max level then put it on a soulstone for later depending on what your going to fight..

You can check Evo Wiki under skill defined for parry and bushido skills, it has the calculation for parry under parry, and how bushido works with parry under bushido.
