Hello everyone!
First of all, this post is not a rant, i made it to let some experienced players give some advice to me.

I started less than a week ago playing on the shard and i was adopted in NEW. I did read a lot of the wiki (to be fair, i wont say, i did read it fully) but i think I got an idea on all the stuff  and the custom stuff.

I already have like 20 GMs. All Combat skills, Chiv-Bushido (well its on 97,5 and wont go to 100 :S) - healing, mining-bs-resisting spells... (and more)
The problem is that i never get to the 40% resistance with any armor, and even though i bought a nice sword on a vendor that makes me kill some of the mobs around, sometimes i get crushed, and even sometimes instakilled.
I tried to do some quests, and im on the earring and bookworm 's quests, and tried to get astrodemon, but i got instakilled by the imps and the demons there.

So... what should i do? I am open to sugestions, and i dont mind on taking some donations or something to get money and get some armor, since i saw donating i could get 1k plat ingots, then ask some crafter to do some crafting on an armor for me.

Please and thanks for staying until this.

Quest armor is better than crafted, don't waste your time crafting because once you get the Astro armor it will be obsolete. End game armor is Kas magi and vecna. A good starter weapon would be the Zelda sword. If your having trouble with the imps, maybe get a pet, like a cu or dragon. What's your taming? I have quite a few cu's laying around if you need one. If you see me in game or PM me I will hook you up with what I can to help you get started.

What IS a "progression" of gear template for new players to aim for?

Apprentice 100% LRC Suit
Astro Daemon Armor
Doom Artifacts
Quest Artifacts (visit the Quest Castle from any Moongate)
Runic Player Crafted Gear
...
...
...
Magi
Kas
Vecna
Battle-Worn Kas
...

Trying to come up with a guide type deal. Thanks.

Ok a basic gear break down for a player moving out of the newbie armor range.

Most will end up being Astral Demon Armour for awhile.

Use a pair of Antiquity gloves, and Trinsic boots.  The gloves will last you until end game for the most part.  The boots can later be replaced with a lot more expensive and more powerful boots later or not at all.
Belt/half apron.  Either belt of Fortune or a Tokuno Belt.  You may be able to get a free Belt of Fortune from some players, otherwise check the player vendor malls.  Belt of Tokuno might run more expensive, but in the long run you will use that belt instead, usually you will have to buy this from another player or their vendor.  (Talk to Shena if you cannot find one for sale, as she makes them when she has materials available).

Shop around for cheap clothing deals, especially parry clothing.  Some vendors will stock the lower bonus clothing for pretty cheap.

Ring, Bracelet, and earrings.  Try for parry ring and bracelet when you can find it.  Earnings there is not much choice unfortunetly.  But the good news is most people that sell them also sell them rather cheap at times.

A good way to get money to buy this stuff is to go and start mining and lumberjacking a and Selling them to crafters.  You may be able to trade those resources for gear as well.

Many thanks for the input SmilingDeath. Another thing to remember is in UO you can basically have any type of gear, given you either hunt for or find it on a vendor. There'll be loot items that have the stats you need over resists that are in excess (but try to get ALL 70s resist eventually).
