Okay, so! I guess you could basically call me a newbie, I haven't played UO in about 9-10 years. Haha! So anyways, My problem is, im starting to feel a bit lost when it comes to holding my own, even against simple monsters. Granted, I have my taming and lore/ vet skills at 100, animal taming at around 116 with jewelry. So I have been training pets to fight for me, but I'd like to be able to hold my own. I have 100 magery, and most of my combat skills are at 100, but like I said.. I haven't played UO in forever and can't remember how to effectively gear/use my character in combat.


So the only way I've been able to do the simpler dungeons is with my pet, and me bandaging, the only downside is it only takes a couple hits before im dead. I feel like im doing something wrong, or forgetting something important. I've read the wiki (use it constantly actually haha!), and somewhat browsed the forums, but I don't know, im just lost. I think I just need help.

Getting a decent armor set is game changing. If you are able to farm up enough gold to buy the astro daemon set (black bone armor) and mix in one or two pieces of leather fortune armor you will have all 70's resist and 100% LRC with some other nice buffs. That was the advice given to me starting here and it changed everything. There is still stuff that hurts really bad out there but normal dungeon mobs are pretty much cake with good armor. I usually see astro daemon pieces at the New player vendor mall, trinsic mall, and luna. Pieces run 150-200k per so make sure you insure them once you grind out that gold! And come to think of it I have a couple pieces of fortune armor so if you pm me(character name also Zoltan) in game we can meet up and they're yours. Welcome back to UO.

Like Zoltan said, gear but also a good axe with whirlwind will keep you alive, to earn that gold i suggest filling taming bods, mining (bronze, ice, toxic ore sell very well and dont req insane skill). Gold can be earned easily enough without fighting you just need to sell some basic key items. Some low end smith bod rewards like powder of fortifying sells for 100k per use.
