Evasion would probably work best ;) there are some other more creative ways but I'll leave that to you  ;)

Also remember that a mobs breath weapon does full damage when they are at full hit points.  As they lose health their breath weapon will get weaker.

an old trick we used to do with the ancient dragons fire breath required at least 3 people and we would macro spam blade spirits and shoot arrows in wraith form. the blade spirits would instantly be killed but there would be one right behind it to replace it. they will always take the fire breath hit since there are closest. and the wraith form with the arrows will keep you mana up. havent tried it on Xun Lao before but might be worth a shot if your having trouble.

use a bow and cast nature's fury in wraith form :)

I came back the other day to be introduced to this one hit kill monster. With enough bushido you can evasion tank no problem with a bow, the wraith form and nature's fury works as well. You can time evasion with some practice once you understand his animations.

Make sure to curse and armor ignore and you should be good. The first time I did him I died like 2 times to learn the mechanic, the next 3 times I have done him I soloed him no problem. Make sure your gear is on par with the rest of the shard as well.

If you need help, Ill be glad to show you the ropes and mechanics. There are a few more ways of dealing with mobs like him or "smart" ai but thats for an ingame class lesson sometime.

People like Warboss are fantastic to learn from in terms of slaying creatures like this. He is a pretty good theory crafter. :)

max casting speed. and high combat skills. max HCI. use a bow with armor ignore macro it. use chiv spells and bushido/honor too in addition to the above strategy. bring friends to help summon bladespirits or nature furys.

magi arms and chest will bring your casting up and give you some good SDI.
astro demon helm or skull of vecna are good for casting and SDI as well.
antiquity are great gloves.
pharoh sandles are beast.
pirate pants or legs of fortune for the LRC id say if you cant get doom leggings. talisman of the moon is a great PVM tali.
green tunic. swordsmanship is pretty easy to stack cause of the green tunic. i would get that stacked high then put "use best weapon skill" on your bow.
necklace of genesis or tactical mask would go great with a bow.
crystalline ring has some SDI on it. good for pvm.
those are some of the common "on par" items.
