The path is a long one, and it requires patients or access to ED's.
In UOE, time is everything--- and it is second to none but (possibly) equal in scale to Luck.
I suggest, gathering any discarded cloth left around Britain bank for starters...
Do as many Bulk order deeds for the related field as you can with the hopes of getting +1, +3, or +5 related gear rewards.
The bulk reward items-- which grant trade skill bonuses-- can be socketed & then filled with a +5 {insert trade skill here} bonus. [Note] That trade skill bonuses will not stack beyond +25 in this manor.
The Quests for crafting that the elves grant, can reward you with a talismon with several bonuses on it related to crafting so look for those quests and do a lot of them.
Cloth items with trade skill bonuses are not socketable, at least not yet, and may never be...
Crafting in most trade skills starts to get comfortable around a score of 160, but 240 should be the end goal, which you can obtain eventually.
Arms Lore is useful, and should be the 5th socketed augmentation on many a trade skill suit, but remember RNG is RNG... I warned you.
...and last but not least remember to eat to full before crafting... it does help.
