So I went ahead an got a second account, with the idea that I would breed a few critters.

I've read the wiki.  I have what I think is a basic understanding of what to do.

I can get both chars (one human, me! & one elf) in the vicinity of 135 taming and 128-130 lore with 115 PS, bracelets and rings - assorted clothes.  Elf is a new char, currently in training.

I know this is not maxed out, and I have not even tried to actually tame a high level mob, but I was thinking GDs, Cus and AFS (where can one find these?).  Any others?  I hear Royal Steeds are good.  I also want to consider rune beetles, but I can't even get near those damn things without taking a dirt nap.

Is it as simple as getting a good pair, train up, breed 1-4 times (I read there is a delay between breeding), next gen rinse repeat?

Some guidance, assistance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Stinky

Having two accounts for breeding pets, simply means the second account's character needs high taming and high animal lore to maintain a pets happiness long enough to bring the pets to the breeder.

It doesn't matter which character/account tamed the creatures which are going to be used for breeding. You will want one female and one male pet-- of course-- and should keep their Max levels within 1 for the best possible attribute outcome.  Make sure you spend all of the points you get when your pets level up, prior to breeding them. Baby pets will eventually grow into mature pets ready for combat, and much of what their [the babies] roll will be in combat will be determined by their parents maxed out stats.

The delay you mentioned is 7 real days, inbetween pet breedings.

That's all I know, for sure, on the subject; but I hope it helps you out Pete.

Every 10 levels something opens to put points into:
Level 1- Health, Stamina, Mana
Level 10- Resistances
Level 20-Min/Max Damage
Level 30- Armor rating
Level 40- Strength, Dexterity, Inteeligence
Wear as much luck as you can get. The formula for stats for the baby come from the following formula- ((Moms stats+ Dads stats)/2). If that isnt the formula then someone correct me. You can get pet power scrolls from monster contrancts and taming bods. This lets you train their skills to 120 if they are at the base 100. My hinest opinion is to get a few level 30s of the pets you want and take the best stats....Skills dont transfer but stats do.

A few other question:

I understand there is an aging process, a "life phase" that doesn't seem to affect breeding, so what does it mean when a pet is "too young to breed" - they are below their max level?

Does shrinking a pet stop aging?

When taming, is there a penalty for using paralyze on the target pet?

Is peace taming viable for higher end mobs?  I seem to fail a lot at 115 music/tame.

Is pet repair worth the effort?  it seems really complicated to get into and I never see the products for sale.  It's as if people just don't use that system very much - I could be wrong (often am).

Thanks!

Yes they are below their max level

Does shrinking a pet stop aging? Not that i know of

I dont use this so cant help there.

Find a bracelet/ring that has both as close to +15 as possible.

If  they die and accrue stat loss then ya.....
Thanks!

As far as attacking an animal/monster you wish to tame-- which is what you would be doing if you cast Paralyze on it-- you risk making the creature infuriated. This could cause the taming chance to rise, beyond your reach/skill. I mention this from my experiences on old school OSI shards; which seems to be EVO-shards-- standard-- default formula.

Peacekeeping, a wild creature, is the best method for taming it. I suggest doing as Cito points out, also. Raise peacekeeping, at least up to GM, and than find suitable jewelry/gear/talismans to boost the skill up even further. Hint: in some cases you have to break the creatures spirit-- by doing X amount of damage to it-- before it is possible to tame it.

Keep the questions coming; I like helping out, especially when the questions are well organized.  8)

Thanks for the comments so far.  Here are a few more questions.

I have two AFS's a 17 and a 19.  If breed, this should give me two level 18 (19-20)?

For breeding purposes, which should I raise first with limited points to distribute  HP, Mana, Stamina or resistances?

Goal is to breed to 40, them back-breed (hi with low) to max stats, then breed up to 40 again - is that how things work here, or should I just get them to 40 distribute points and call it a day?

What is the value of leveling above 40?  At 40, stats open up, but by 40 you should have a lot of unused points to distribute.  After that, what is the value of raising through the 40s to 50?

What are the values on the second tab (forget exactly, but like fire attack, counter attack, etc.), should I be raising those as well?

Thanks for the info.  Once I get my critters up to snuff, I'll be asking about pet repair details. Thanks!

They're pet power moves and they have never worked since the FS taming system was first written.

For AFS you want to raise their level to 40, THEN breed them. It's the best way to get the most out of your babies and in the long run it costs less in pet level deeds and for re-sale.

Keep the info coming.

Do skills make any difference in breeding potential, or just stats and resistance?

Which takes priority stats (HP, Mana, Stam) or resistances

IMHO dont breed unless its a lvl 30 starting. you have 10 generations to acomplish maxing out stats. max out hp first then mana or stam if the cast or have a special ability.skills dont matter, stats do.

So a few more questions:

What does "evolved" mean in reference to pets?

After level 40, is it worth the pet level deeds to go for 50?  What changes?  I have not breed up to 40 yet, but I have a few 30s that are already maxed out for everything they can be.  Extra levels mean unused points adding up.  At level 40 I thinks stats become available to raise.  What does that look like, and why bother if HP, mana, stam, resists, AR and damage range are already maxed?

I know luck is a factor.  I have one char with 1800 luck and another with 1 just under 1000.  Not great I know.  I have been able to consistently breed AFS's, but can't seem to mate Cu's.  I keep getting the message about high level critters being hard to mate.  Am I missing something or is it really just I need more luck.  Both chars have 120/130+ lore/taming with jewelry.

Any market for GDs?  I have a pair I might mate, but not the time.

Does anyone use rune beetles anymore, or is everyone focused on AFS and Royal steeds as end game for pets?

Thanks for the thoughts.  If you think this I ask a lot of questions, wait until I try to crack pet repair!

Evolved only applies to the Evo Dragon.

Strength, dexterity and intelligence still hold bearing on damage, swing speed and magic damage respectively. You will max out skills at that point but you just level it up to max level and breed again. It just happens sometimes.

Myself and a guildie have failed 4 times before trying to breed Bake Kitsunes, it really just happens sometimes.

I know this post is a month old at this point, but I thought it was worth asking.  I am in the process of trying to breed 2 lvl31 pets.  At one point in his life, the male died and incurred a 5% stat loss.  My questions are as follows:

1. Which stats were lost?
-str/dex/int? all 3? just 1?
-skills?
-hp/stam/mana? all 3? just 1?
2. When breeding 2 pets, are their current, or max stats taken into account? Meaning, if I had a 100 str pet, and he lost 5% going down to 95str, and I breed him with another 100 str female, would the baby be 97 or 100 str?
3. Is it worth spending time and money (recently started here so don't' have much of the latter, and am a working adult so not too much of the former) to repair a pet that has only lost 5% consider he's only level 31 and is only used as a 'breed' pet and will most likely NOT be used as an actual pet in the future.

I was asked last night about a breeding question that I had no answer to.
Is there a penalty for breeding siblings together?
Are we able to breed siblings togetherness?
