I have started to love fishing and going the whole SOS ordeal. I have a suit that gives me 538 luck right now but my +98 luck axe is a major part of it. Anyone know would it be better to have 98 more luck or +30 fishing.

The fishing skill is needed to get the chests from the SOS.  When the chest is on your ship, just change to the axe and then open it.


As long as the 30 fishing is needed to be able to get the chest that is.  If your suit is good enough to find the chest quickly, then you could just keep the axe in hand.


A side note, the quest for the fishing pole is repeatable, so keep working on it till you can get the +60 fishing pole.

On a side note though from what i read luck actually lowers the chances of pulling up the chest. With greater luck you are more likely to pull up the deco items like the paintings and such

While attempting to bring up the chest, you may on occasion bring up other bits of random items with the special tag Recovered from a Shipwreck. You may get the message You fish for a while but fail to catch anything or You pull out [item]. The count of such items ranges from 0 (chest directly fished up) to at least 16 items (Katryn (Luck 121) of Atlantic June 9, 2015 [16 items and 1 fishing attempt bearing nothing + chest in 18 attempts] and with 201 luck on August 19, 2016 [16 items, chest along with a white pearl] ).

Keep in mind that luck is not the same as OSI. Here you can reach 7-8000 luck. 98 less or more luck will not change pretty much nothing for you chest, +30 is far more a great upgrade to your fish skill. If you find the +60 with the quest, put a +100 luck deed on it, it will solve your dilema
