I don't know bout anyone else, but I had a blast the other night fighting off pirates with a couple other players. Came with alot of deaths, but strategy and perseverance paid off, and of course a good boat captain, and good healing helped tons. Funny watching them come to shore and they just get stuck on each other maneuvering their boats with nowhere to go. I don't know if the Pirates content is still in a test phase but I can see already somethings that may need tweeking. Now mind you this is just my opinion off my experience, others may feel differently.


First thing I see posing an issue may be for that 'Lone' player out on the water maybe fishing for goodies. These pirates are militant, and it's never just one ship. One lone player on the water who runs into this situation is almost guaranteed an insta-death especially if your boat gets blockaded by 3 or more pirate ships. These guys hit hard, very hard and they can board your ship. You have no where to run on the water. Only option is to maneuver the boat like a boss to get outta there or recall out quick fast and in a hurry. One player has no solid defense against a fleet of pirates.


Loot- the loot from the pirates is relatively poor about 200gp some NPC basic clothes, basic weapons, low end arties. No different than going into a dungeon and fighting 1st or 2nd level creatures. For the amount of damage these pirates cause and as many of them that one may end up fending off, it would be great to have the loot on these baddies increased to reflect the effort involved in fighting them if one survives long enough to collect.


Looting- dunno if its a bug in the content but anytime you kill a pirate it turns gold, no looting rights for some period of time which if your on the water and survive one battle and your waiting around to loot, you could be blindsided by another fleet of pirates cept this time you may die. The [grab command doesn't work so you have to maneuver your boat, open up the gangplank and hang outside your boat to loot bodies laying on the water, then move the boat around to the next body and rinse and repeat.


All in all they are a blast with some friends to go pirate hunting. I like the concept, just feel somethings still need work to make them worthwhile. Anyways, just my little quick review of my experience with the pirates. Fun and challenging and hilarious watching them maneuver around blockading themselves lol.
