I've returned to UOEvo and am just starting to find my feet again.


I currently have 3 elder werewolves, but I see there are so many other pets in the game now so I wondered what the more experienced players like to hunt with? Comments appreciated.

i think it depends what u want to do....3 werewolves are very strong but sometimes its better to have a rez/healpet (fairy dragon), a tankpet ( cu sidhe/ancient firesteed), 5-10 packinstinktpets ( hounds, cats, royal horses) or a strong singlekillpet like manticore...or pets are complete useless like on spirilix/emperor dagon.

Yeah, I was thinking perhaps I should mix things up a bit. I don't have a rez/heal pet so maybe that's my next choice (gives me an excuse to spend some EDs lol).

By far a pack of royal steeds is the end all of pets. The magical elf pet from December (300ed) is a great pet for res/heals, it also has double strike and casts good damage spells often. I personally only have six pet slots, so two AFS are my best option.

I use a combo of a magical elf and an evo dragon. Cant really complain.

Still thinking of releasing a pack of Hell Cats at the Brit bank.  It would show who is AFK running combat macros. Lol
At a whopping 50 hit points each in the beginning it wouldn't be to bad.

and afaik kane is working on the biosystem too so we get maybe better and different bios as pets.

Anyone use Hiyru's?  Or Rune Beetles?  or Nightmares?  I used to use all of of those back in the day.

Is there a pet market out there for other pets?  GDs seem to have faded in popularity. 

So it seems like the progression goes like this top to bottom: Royal Steed(s), Evo Dragon, AFS, CU, GD, WW...why bother with anything lower?  I have not ever seen anyone hunting with anything less than some combo of these. 

As we are all legendary tamers,  where is the middle of the market?

I know I left out the specialty/ED pets.  No experience with them.

I have a question.

When you tame something that casts spells or something, does it still cast those spells once its tames? Because I tamed some lowland bouras because they have a stun ability. But so far they dont seem to be stunning anything once I tame them.

Been wanting to get some rune beetles.  Got a recall set to get me to them, just have to find the time to get a few tamed.  Annoying part is subduing them while taming them.  Might have to bring a friend to help.  Wanting to test them out in a few areas of the game and see how well the do there.  All I was finding the other night were low level ones.  Same thing with the fire beetle and giant beetle.


Was able to tame 4 Ki-Rin the other night.  Going to train them up one of these days since they were 30, 29, and 27.  Got rid of the low level one the other day on accident.  Good exp gains for mid 80's with taming ring and braces on.

Difficult to control sometimes in Fel, and borderline useless against anything with 80 plus physical resistance. However while fighting the grizzle, each hits for between 110 and 150. Goes down fast!

To get back to stat loss and breeding, should i repair before breeding, or does it not matter?

In a related question, I have not seen any player vendors selling tonics (+1 perm stat).  Any player vendors have them?

Also, can someone more experienced then me start a detailed thread on how to do the bio engineering piece.  I know it's on the wiki, but I'd like some details, like how to sample (click vial, target monster?), can they be peaced first?  What critters yield the best samples?  Will say a dragon yield the same type of DNA as a Greater Dragon.  Can the you sample a pet?  You know, the details.

Most 1200 strength. 250-300 dex. intel doesnt matter i believe.
