Hi,
I'm wondering if the pet restoration system is up to par with the 'reward' given vs effort.

Two of my royal steeds took a hit and although i have points left, i'd like to restore some STR back to them through the pet restoration system.  You can buy some herbs on a stone located in the new player castle, herb display room
I've tried to harvest some herbs for a while, but soon noticed that it would take a "lifetime" to restore 40STR per pet. A tree (on average) only gives 2 herbs of any of the 35 different kinds of herbs available on average and so many are needed for just 1 "+1 str" ointment.

Is it possible to review this system?

The goo is available from the token stone, and is a good way to recycle some tokens into useful stuff.
Eventhough i on occasion find the goo in treasure chests.

After publish #06 I have modified the bonuses to be more worth while. You are looking at a +5 increase now. The restorations are still expensive, but much better than the original +1 system.

Their is also a Herb Stone ( I think gold but I forget ) in the new player castle , you get to choose which herb you want and get 50 per   =)

Kinda kills the farming of trees but its a lot faster to get what you need.

Hey Kyn,
I have just used two "Tonic of Strength" on one of my pets, and only received a +1 STR increase per tonic. If i read your reply above correctly i was to expect +5 pet tonic, or did i miss something?
thx

edit: after talking it over with my guildie belgaron it seems that my pet has only had xp loss, and not yet stat loss. Is the above normal behaviour when using a tonic on a pet with NO stat loss?

The permanent bonuses are +5, the temporary bonuses are +1.

given by what you say in your reply Kyn, the Tonic is bugged.

I used two Tonics of Strength, and only received +2str.

The wiki says Tonics are "Pet Tonics STR Tonic: +1 STR, Perm."

I will add this to my notes of something to look at, thank you. :)

I don't complete fixes over night. Especially when there hasn't been a shard restart since this was brought to my attention. I am looking at the system and seeing what (if any) new changes need to be made.

system is still way too time consuming for it to be useful to me.......lost connection and pets lost 120k exp which caused across the board stat loss  lost connection like 3 or 4 times server has been stabilized since then and i think i have you to thank for that kyn mostly and i do thank you. What happened in the past will take weeks to correct unfortunately i don't want to spend that kinda time to get them back to where they were. I am sure some reading this will say (wow wish that all the problem i had) truth is i have limited time to play because of work and 2 things i really like on this server the pet breeder system and the ability to use those pets in pvm. I would like to pvp some abit in the future but for now those 2 are what i liked here. The ability to keep a werewolf wonderfully happy is something i mentioned numerous times in the past. Not sure what the problem is but unlike evo pets and royal steeds if you have 5 WW one is unhappy most of the time. OK i am off my soap box just wanted to throw my 2 cents in there.

At 120 tame and lore you have minimum control of the pet, you have to feed them alot to keep them happy.  Get some +lore gear and you wont have this problem, try to get around 130 lore

you have to feed Werewolves a lot at 120. if you want to avoid that where jewelry with high animal lore on it.

I don't feel it's ridiculous.  Since they are a tougher pet when used, it makes sense that they are tougher to control/work with.  If they were on par with a dragon, nightmare, or unicorn; then I'd say yes.  But if you want the extras, then I think we should be expected to gear/train up more to be able to handle them.  Just my opinion.

wear 15+ taming/lore jewelery and command your pets very often. Even if it's just 'all follow me'.
When you have a pet that's less then wonderfully happy, single it out - and spam commands. You'll see that within a few commands it's loyalty will be at wonderfully happy again.

I have never fed my pets, not royals, not evo dragon, not ww's - and they are ALWAYS wonderfully happy.

Peterr you're a cruel, cruel tamer... never feeding your pet, sheesh that's so mean.  They're just wasting away, every now and then they'll turn to you giving a soft whimper if they can eat the orc; but you just shake your head no and give the command to attack the next one.

So cruel.

uoguide mentions that a pet can gain or loose loyalty from each command you give it.
When you have plenty of skill, you will rarely loose loyalty from commanding them.
I've found it also useless to feed them, because when they're 'wonderfully happy' - giving them food does nothing.

i command my pets ALLOT because i want control. When running around with 5 or more ponies you want them all on the same target for pack instinct damage bonus. So 'all kill' on hotkey is an absolute must.

I have 'all follow me', 'all guard me' and 'all kill' on hotkeys. Wouldn't even touch a mob if those didn't work ;)

i'm not cruel to my pets, food is overrated! ;p

This was just the post I was about to make.

I have very high lore.. 130 was not even remotely enough.  I am sitting at 159 lore and it is still not enough.

I was out killing and my ww went to rather happy in less than 15 minutes.  At 159 it should take him much much longer to go to that level.
Yes I command often. Before and after each fight.  All kill, all guard, all follow. Go on before during and after each fight.

My faire was out for about 8 minutes and he also lost loyalty in a very short time frame.

If I need higher lore.. Then I need to know. I paid a lot of money for these pets. And I'm not talking buying ed with gold. I donated a large amount of money.

Anti is not having any issues with his pet at all. And his lore is way lower than mine.

I'd like to know why I am having this issue and not many others do. 159 should be more than enough.

i havent actually done this so its possible im overlooking something but perhaps make a macro to feed you pet. hotkey it. press the hotkey every now and then .once its set up it will take very minimal effort to keep the pet happy.

I'd change some lore out except I had sockets added to my gear for lore. Since I was informed that is what was needed.

I have now added taming to 141 and lore is at 152. This seems to be working just fine.  I can now go out and kill a few mobs without having to worry of losing my pets.

to round up some of the issues with pet loyalty - there's a way to sort of script your pets loyalty.

using AssistUO (i strongly advise to start using it!)
http://www.runuo.com/products/assistuo/doc/actions/feed

in short you can macro like this:

Feed 'Mount' 'Food' (i.e. Feed 'Petname or serial' 'Fruits and Vegetables')
Pause 1000

The above would feed your pet every 1 second with fruit/veg you have in your backpack.
The macro'ing in AssistUO is incredibly simple compared to razor, and ALLOT more powerful i.m.o.
