I'd like to help out with this once I get a few pets stats maxed in the Training Room. As a suggestion: I don't know to what extent it is possible to do this - I know you have to take whatever you get on gear a lot of times - but it would be easier to drill down to the value/contribution of each factor (Taming/Lore/Vet/Luck) if you only changed one of them during each new test.

That is true.  I'm training up a new Cu Sidhe ATM, extraordinary DNA.  I will keep the same stats thru out its first 10 levels (135.2 Lore, 139 Tame, 120 Vet), then go to base stats for its next 10 levels (115 Lore, 115 Tame, 120 Veterinary).  For the last 10 levels I want to raise just my Veterinary skill and see how much of a difference that makes in the points increase.

Going to have to remember this is not my old Cu Sidhe when I go out adventuring, as it is only a generation 1.

Will definitely try and breed this one when I am done leveling it to 40.

Level 1-10, 174 points with above skill levels.
Level 11-20, 178 points with 115 lore and taming 120 Vetinary.
Level 21-30,

87 ability points levels 1-10
high of 15, low of 6

My results were very comparable to Cito's test on the Fire Steed with Uncommon DNA. And our skills were nearly a match except for my greater Luck.

Are these just the points they are getting from leveling up?

Also, would someone want to attempt to see what gives you a higher boost in points? I would be interested to see if a higher taming, lore, or luck worked out best in the end.

yes these are the points obtained form levels 1-10. If i had someone that could do it with just base taming(120) and lore it would help. I have 201 taming, 163 lore, 120 Vet and 1916 Luck. If you compare my first perfect pet post to the one i just posted yesterday, and increase of 43 points in taming and 19 lore brought a 34% increase in the number of available ability points.

In next week or 2, i plan to increase my luck by either 200 or 900 depending on what kinda gold i can come up with.

Point to consider,  would how the pet is tamed have an affect on ability points?  I remember in old uo, something about a 20% loss in stats when peace taming.

Seems like taming is having a much higher effect on pet points than anything else. Very interesting.

I may try a ridiculous set here soon. Full lore augs, highest taming I can get, and 2-300 luck per piece...

Me thinks we can get some pretty insane pets.

If someone wants to tame a bunch of the same creature with gifted DNA I can run some tests with base skills, and then do incremental changes in taming, then lore, then luck. Would be able to find out what gives the highest rate of return for the skills.

I am willing to invest quite a bit of ED into testing this out. Already in the process of building the set.

Also wondering: Are you able to overcap stats on pets now with the tonics, and the new trait system, or does the new trait system just make it easier to max pets out via breeding?

I wasn't aware that the vet skill had any affect on the skill points. I was under the impression it was taming, lore, and luck.

Sorry I don't have anything to contribute in this thread, but reading all of the responses got me curious and I can't find any info regarding it.

Does one need/want to stack as much tame/lore/vet than to better train pets? I knew DNA was important in finding a great pet but had no idea char skills played any role in pet stats, skills.

Also, where does one find this type of info, cause it is not in Wiki. Read everything about taming and pets but this ( the part bout stackin tame/lore for pet training) is new to me.

Thanks!

Stacking Taming, Lore, and Vetinary increase the ability points gained per level of the pet.  Luck also contributes as well.  So stacking them can increase the capabilities of the pet by a lot, especially for the players that are heavy into the breeding of the pets.

Look through the February patch notes on the forums, I believe the info is there,  Dante may not have updated the wiki entry for the Animal Taming section, so check through the Dev Logs for 2016 as well,  The Dev Logs match the patch notes btw.
