Howdy,
I joined this shard a few days ago and I'm having a great time. My in-game character is GeFuzzles, you may have seen me poking around.
I think Dante and Kane have done a wonderful job on this shard and the staff overall seem attentive and active. It's really great and super refreshing to see this. The community also has been wonderful to me over the last few days. As I've got older my patience for multiplayer and online interactions has slimmed down a lot, but here I'm starting to rekindle my digital interaction with people and I'm quite enjoying myself.
There are a few things though that I've not enjoyed, and I don't believe it's the fault of any of the staff or people. As I said, the staff have created a great shard here. It really comes down to personal preference on my part so I decided to solve at least one of the issues myself.
I *really* didn't like the coloured spell and skill icons. I personally think they're hard to look at, distracting, and they don't flow with the wonderful art direction of UO.... So I fixed it. And I'm sharing with the permission of Dante.
I had to edit the gumpart files that came with the custom client. As I don't know the full extent to which they've been modified here I opted for editing rather than replacing with a different version from an unmodified install.
**PLEASE BACK UP ANY FILES BEFORE YOU MODIFY THEM**
1. Download the zip file HERE.
(Mega is great file host for many reasons, but you may need to download a plugin for your browser. Please don't worry, it's legit. Mega is fast, with minimal to no ads, and no annoying wait-times.)
2. Browse to where you've installed the the 'UOEvolution Custom Client'.
3. Locate the two files 'gumpart.mul' and 'gumpidx.mul' and make a back-up of them.
4. Extract the two files in the zip to your UOEvolution directory.
5. Enjoy your icons!
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
I may be looking into further minor modifications in the future.
Thank you!!
**BONUS: I found this after looking for someone else. If you like the original T2A-style midi music I'd take a look at the link below. I don't think it's perfect as EA made too many changes, but it's an option.
