Hi everyone.

So ive been on this shard around a month and its great. Just wanted to share some of what I leaned, and hope to get some insight from vets on whats next.

  • you can raise combat skills afk in the elemental training room, knock those out when you cant play.
  • set macros when afk to gain hiding and stealth, very helpful
  • once you get some combat skills down, go to the new player dungeon and get a 100% lrc suit. then gain all your casting skills
  • raise taming. you can craft, raise the old fashion way, or use skill ball. You can raise lore by vet and loreing other players pets. Get a pet, a Cu Sihde is a great one. Closer to level 30 the better. If its near 30, bond it and level it. Makes a great tank for things you yourself cannot kill, plus it heals itself and you. Make sure you can cast heal and have some vet to heal it. Now im trying to get a lvl 30 T-rex.
  • some quests are pretty easy with niec rewards. Im still learning some, but the ones ive done are: hercules ring, astro demon, the one where you get the cleric spellbook (very nice), and hare karishna.
  • gear wise, Im still learning, but I go for luck if I can to help with drops. I also have a nice composite bow. Find someone to make you one so you can hunt from a distance with pets, there are forum posts on what to look for in one if you dont know. I dont have a champ axe yet, but I get worked at champs and miss a lot, so I die often and dont bother until i get stronger.
  • a few combat tips: set up hot keys to your fingers liking. I have the following in order: Enemy of One, Consecrate Weapon while saying "frank Kill" (thats my pets name), Discord, Primary Weapon Ability, Momentum strike. Under those keys are healing abilities. Also, Curse weapon can be a life saver
  • T maps are great, and the devious and expertly made ones can drop nice stuff. Good gold, magic cloth deeds and weap level deeds
  • join or look into NEW guild. Great people with a rune library
  • when looting coprses, I take gems, regs to craft, and look at jewelry. Also look for random colored items, sometimes those are arties. Make sure you set your loot bag or AssistUO auto loot to grab what you want. Check out the augments room to see and set those to looter. They are hard to find.
Hope this helps some, now to where I am and would love some insight.

Basically want to know where to go from here. I have some decent gear, but still pushing for luck to get better drops. Im gonna try and kill some more difficult stuff in some of the newer dungeons. My thought process is more luck, plus more difficult creatures = higher drop % of an arti. Is it safe to say? Are the arties that drop on corpse from the global drop system typically the ones that are the best? Dreadhorn and his horses destroyed me the other day, so I need to beef up my gear before tackling the peerless.

Thanks, hope this helps one person. Oh yea, its awesome here

I would not suggest people use their Skill Ball at all.  there are a lot of skills that are impossible to gain without one.  (Such as hiding past 100, throwing for non gargoyles etc.)  Also, Bushido is not recommended if you will be wearing a shield.  the penalty to parry while wearing a shield is far too great.

Champ axes are quite nice, and very important to getting stronger.  Ask a veteran player for tips, and check out this guide http://uoevolution.com/wiki/index.php/Weapon_Crafting_Guide

Luck isn't worth it until you can get it on your actual killing gear (With the exception of a luck suit for digging up T-Maps and SoSs) because it will hinder your abilities far too much.

Artifacts will drop more often if you have luck, but most of the "Good" artifacts are from Quests (Such as the Kas quest and Magi quest) and from higher level bosses (Like Champions of Champ Spawns and Stygian Dragon etc.)

The lootbag is best used for things like regs/materials and bulk items that stack like gems.  Autoloot is better for things like Augments/Quest Items (Such as the monthly quest items that specifically do not work with "Claim")  There is also a program called CLAW (a script for EasyUO) that you can set rules in to loot jewelry/items (Such as looting every piece of geat that has +10 or greater skill, or even to the point of looting a ring that has +10Taming/+10Lore/1FC/1FCR/50+luck It's quite powerful).  (I have noticed it argues with the autoloot setting in SteamUO however, so it's better off one or the other.)

The other tips i'd have for figuring out what gear you want, is to figure out the playstyle you want?  Do you want to be a dexxer? getting up close with a double axe and wrecking face?  Do you want to be a mage? (Mages are generally better for PvP than PvM) Or do you want to be a tamer and rely on your pets to tank and do most of your damage?

Once you have that figured out take a look at the gear of people hanging around brit bank, see what they're wearing and try to figure out why.  Look into the augments/sockets.  learn what you can and cannot socket in the way of stats and gear. and what items are and are not socketable.

Hopefully this helps you move forward.

Thanks for chiming in!

I have 4107 points, and still have 599 points left on skill ball. I also agree not to spend unless very necessary. Im saving mine for what you said, or maybe hte most expensive crafting skills which i have yet to raise.

Thanks for the tip on luck, that acutally makes a lot of sense. Ill keep my suit for T maps, and define my role and how i want to play it. Then ill go through my looted arties and pull out the best suit for that build. Ill probably remain an archer/ tamer since i have a nice lvl 35 greater dragon. Ive been monitoring the Magi spots, ill check out the the Kas stuff, I know of it just not much. Ill focus on finding things that are a big challenge and invite guild mates and my brother to join in on battle. Hopefully they will drop what helps me improve - regardless its fun.

Im going to peek out some gear at the bank level my bow to 100 before deciding to use my socket scroll. I may keep that for my champ axe. I like finding out what drops higher level t maps and then doing them. Ive had good luck there. Im also learning what drops expensive augments.

Appreciate your post and it did help me move forward. Cheers!

I'm glad!

Just one thing, For champ spawns, you are going to want an axe.  Bows are great for single target boss fights.  But absolutely nothing beats whirlwinding.

Some tips I've run into in my month and a half:

Get hiding to 100 ASAP so you can survive GM champ events. Otherwise you might be dead for the boss.
Get tradeskills to 100 for BODS, but dont bother wasting money on the 120 powerscrolls. They are useless until you can get the skills to 240 with sockets/magic cloth. Unless you can find them for cheap.
Spend some money on the highest junk luck gear you can get, and equip it when opening treasure chests with cartography
Get spellweaving done fast and do the arcane circle thing before using it each day. It's great for aoeing champ spawn events as a newb that cant enter the spawns.
Get a Cu-sidhe. It's an amazing tank while you smack things with your zelda sword.
Get a Zelda sword. It literally takes 2 seconds (get the boomerang from tokuno and turn it in) Nothing beats its damage as a newb when fighting things 1 at a time. Use consecrate weapon so it hits everything
