Can any staff/vets give us all some more info on the crafting system?

I have been wanting to craft a leather suit since most the artys and commonly worn items are mostly plate/heavy type gear. Heavy gear doesnt go well with hiding and stealthing which I like to use alot.

Then I figured out you supposvly have to have 240 tailoring to craft anything to even think about wearing. I was ok with that till I came to the point of ok how am I going to get 240 tailoring? lol. So I started buying +tailoring clothes untill someone had told me not to waste my time gold because its worthless. I start to check out other players gear sets and notice hardly anyone is wearing crafted leather gear. And I have heard that alot of the bods are broke?

Now yes, this is all hear say. But with how expensive tailoring items are I dont want to spent millions and millions to be left disappointed.

So I was just wondering if I can get some clarification on this..?

I'm not a veteran on this server but I think I have a good grasp of how armor and weapons work here. If you're dead-set on doing leather armor, take a look at the best leather armor that you can loot or buy. If you can't possibly craft anything comparable to pre-existing loot, it's not worth it to bother. I'm not really familiar with the leather looted armor because I don't wear it. Mage Armor removed the meditation benefits and I wear a plate helm, bone gloves, and dragonscale legs and chest and never fail a stealth check with 100.0 skill. It's for certain that you can't craft non-leather armor better than existing loot.

Astro Daemon Bone Gloves
DI 12%
LRC 10%
RPD 12%
HP regen 12
SR 5
SSI 12%
and 15 or 16 in all resists

And that's not even the top-of-the-line pair of gloves out there. Crafted just can't compete. It's the exact opposite of the situation with weapons, which is that (with the exception of some artifacts) only exceptional crafted weapons are viable and even the very best looted weapons can't compete.

I can't speak on BODs, haven't done any on this server. :)

The only heavy gear im wearing is my wep, shield, and tactical mask. The rest is astros which is bone armor. I can remove those 3 heavy pieces and I still cant stealth at all with the astros gear and I have 120 stealth.

The reason crafted armor isn't viable, yet, is due to Skills and Stat/Attribute points. You will not find any crafted armor with bonus DEX STR or INT... it is also unlikely to find any with skill bonuses. There is a larger list of other combat bonuses not found on crafted armor, but you get the point of course.

That being said, The rock dungeon is possibly going to make a difference in crafted armor soon.

Also, sockets might help here as well, if your not looking to stack skill bonuses that is. Role-playing is always allowed on EVO.  :)

I hope that helps shine some light. I was planning on adding to the wiki's crafting section, but i have a few other things going on at the moment. Time will tell.

One last thing you might do is be a pioneer, and flesh out some answer on your own about Tailoring. I intend to do a little of this myself.

Idk Sturger.. as Intensifried said, it would be a really expensive undertaking and signs already point to no. If there were a test server where you could just whammy up whatever gear you wanted and try it out, that'd be one thing. But investing ~1500 ED on an experiment that might turn out to be a complete waste is a little crazy. ☺

Yeah that does help a little. I figured since tailoring goes up to 240 and all the new runic kits would make better high level gear since getting your tailoring that high im assuming is end game goals because without pure RL luck at the gambling stone theres no way a noob can get tailoring that high quick enough to make a set of gear better than what hes already got? Ive been here about 2 weeks now and came across 1 +10 tailoring clothy on vender and scooped it up. thats the only +tailoring clothy ive seen.

So idk.. whats the real point of being able to get to 240 tailoring finally able to use the ethy kit and cant make something worth wearing? I still feel like im missing something or maybe the crafting end of the shard isnt completed yet?

Ive already invested a little bit into tailoring so im kinda like grrr.  :o

Several of the crafting fields are still in the dark, but I know Kane has a plan for them. When , what, or how he intends to bring these dark crafting fields up to par is still known only to him and staff.
