Questions
Okay, I just made my character, now what?
Now that you have made a character, you should first ask yourself this: What kind of character do you want; Fighter? Caster? Tamer? or kind of your own thing. Once you have identified what you want to play, choose the skills you want to go with.
Well I would recommend training your char so you can get a good start on the game.
The training area on Evo is through a portal. These portals are found at each city’s bank. Click new player area and take the one that says training elementals. You can also go to the town of New Haven and find trainers there. Most will train you to 40.0 in a skill for 400g and give you a quest to quickly train it to 50.0. While you are wondering around the town “blue npc’s” will give you a quest to take them somewhere and generally reward you with 500g.
This skill ball is awesome and it will save me tons of time. What skills should I use it on?
The skill ball is handy especially if used responsibly. I wouldn’t use it on skills that are easy to gain like Spirit Speak. Personally I would use it on things like Animal Taming and crafting skills, the ones that take time to rise. This will allow you to quickly get to the fun our shard has to offer.
I would recommend waiting and train all the skills you can then use it on the harder ones.
If you are new to UO then you may not understand the “harder” skills to rise. I would suggest waiting a week before using the skill ball. Beat on the training eles in the training room and ask for help using [c (type question) in game.
I have several fighting skills up to 100 and I want to go kill. What is a good starting place to go and make some coin?
Now that you’re at 100, the best spot to try your killing skills is the New player dungeon. This is especially true if you’re new to UO or if you took a break and you need to get back into how UO plays. This will also give you an idea of how monsters interact with you when you’re trying to kill them. Once you get confident there, start doing some of our new player quests at the New Player Castle.
I would go to Destard. Great place to kill and good money comes from dragons.
I like hunting in shame. It has a good progression rate in my opinion. Make sure you are looting every corpse. EVO has an auto gold looter but monsters can have rares on their body that will not show up in your bag.
I keep seeing this thing about an arty chance, what is that?
Arty chance means, when you kill a monster it holds a chance to giving you an arty rather than it being Katrina’s crook or any other artifact.
It is just a random roll for a chance to drop a random artifact into your bag.
This is separate from the arty or rare that maybe be on a monsters corpse.
I have gathered up some coins and looking to buy a house. How much gold do I need and where do I look?
The price of the homes, custom or pre-made, is all listed on the house placement tool. Once you have decided on what you want, go out in the world and try to find a plot to put it. If you’re not into PvP, I highly suggest you do not place one in fel. Also not near any dungeons if you don’t want a fight anytime you want to go grab the paper.
You could get a house placement tool to see what house you want and it will show you the price. Then you would have to find a place outside of a town and place it in an open area. It has to be 1tile from a side of house then 5 tiles in front and behind a house.
You can have up to 3 houses on EVO. Anymore than 3 and they begin to decay. If you save up around 100k then you can have several choices for your first home. There are classic houses, which have a pre-made floor plan. Then customizable which allows you to make it yourself.
That is all for this week’s interviewing questions. I want to thank both Loki and Neo for taking part in this interview. If you have questions that you would like to be asked during an interview please send them to me in a pm on the forums. I will be randomly picking two to three players to ask questions to. If you would like to volunteer as an interviewee please send me a pm as well. We are going to try and do this once a week. Thank you for taking the time to read this and enjoy your stay at EVO.
