I'm gonna drop being nice for a minute. I was yelled at today because one of my guild mates was using a macro that I designed in a way that broke the rules. I didn't like that. I designed that macro in a way that would not break the rules. I designed it to work with Kane's fixes to the server. Weapon swing speed is capped at 1.25 seconds per swing and it was designed to throw one potion per 3 swings. Thats 3.75 seconds. I remained professional and didn't raise my voice, but to be honest it really pissed me off. Especially considering the hard work I put in to it. I test all of my macros, thoroughly, to make sure there isn't a problem. After being informed of the problem I was able to finally, after alot of testing, reproduce it. I am telling you all this because I want you to know why I have decided to post this today.
Let me take a moment and explain my situation with a little more clarity. I had been approached about teaching people how to fight back or even survive in a player vs player environment. I was all for it. I have read every single .cs file in the runuo code. Top to bottom. I am not the developer that Kane is nor do I intend to be, but I read that code better than some of you read english. I had hoped that one day, I might clear up some of the mistakes that people make when switching from osi to runuo. I had also hoped to teach everyone the full extent of steam and its macros. Perhaps even create a library of macro subs, so that people could create their own macros with absolutely 0 knowledge of macroing whatsoever. My problem with this though, is who would listen to me? I left Evo for an entire year and when I got back no one even knew who I was. Thats easy to fix. I just have to go out and make a name for myself. So I created the Dark Brotherhood.
Let's talk a moment about what it means to role play. We have been hearing that alot lately. RP this RP that. I decided the best way to make a name for myself again was through sheer notoriety. It's not the nicest way to do things, but it is the fastest. I actually like most of the people on this server. I even like most of the people I bash on the forums. I don't really dislike any of you. I just pretend to in order to further my goal of inciting an all out war against us. I had planned to dominate for 3 weeks, then tone things down dramatically. From that point the intention was to use alts to play my assassins as intelligent monsters. We'd have the hatred necessary to make the people we were fighting against enjoy killing us. I had even hoped to recruit other people to help us in this reguard. Several non-pvpers were interested in helping with this. We'd then be able to pull out our main characters on rare occassion and truly fight back. Just to keep the cauldron stirred up. It would have been a great chance to have some solid pvp action with some real fire behind it.
Here's the problem with that though. Pure dumb pride. Some of you can't handle that you don't know everything about this game. Some of you cry every time that you lose. If you're not the best they must be cheating. Well you're wrong. I'll explain this. The macros I designed were not designed to kill you with pots. They were designed to kill you with a weapon. It's a straight dexxer build. The pots were only there to confuse you and create havoc. Crimson Reign hadn't been on the server 12 hours yet and figured it out. He reached out to me and explained my build to me in detail. He was 100% right. The rest of you were too caught up in your own delusions of grandeur to see exactly how it worked. I knew you would do that. I planned it. I had planned it from the beginning. We master minded the whole situation with pots being an exploit with the intention of confusing you after it was fixed, and you all fell for it. Oh and as for the claims that we found a way to make pots stick to people, it only looks that way because you are moving from an area damage effect at high speed. Try casting holy light while running and you'll see the same delay in reverse on monsters.
So everything went according to plan... if thats the case then whats wrong? The problem is this. Since I started playing on evo 2 years ago I dealt with constant whining and complaining. 2 years later i am still dealing with it. The story of Evo pvp is not one of conquest. It's a story of bickering and whining and complaining. It still is. Looking around at how everyone behaves, I have decided that it is best to disband the dark brotherhood. If you think that means you've won then you're right. I'm taking my toys and going back to trammel. At least there I don't have to hear so much damned crying. The pvpers on this server are not half the people that the non pvpers are. I'd rather sit around with a bunch of crafters who know their craft than a bunch of pvpers who can barely type a coherent sentence.
So there ya have it. I can't speak for the other two members of my guild but I am done with pvp. You're lucky you only fought 3 of us instead of our entire guild. I had the option to bring on 5 more people as strong as us. I chose not to in order to balance the power scale. I'm glad I didn't waste their time. So enjoy your victory and I hope you choke on it.
Oh and so you know, someone far worse than us is coming back to Evo. I was gonna counter him, but you deserve whats coming. The lost son of Imitatores Draconum.
