As I go through a complete test and fine tuning of the system I thought I would do a few screenshots to help provide some information about what is to come.  Like with any of the systems I have developed for the shard, this allows us to add new contracts in game without the need for restarts.

A contract in simple terms is what you get you from a contract dealer that allows you to do a task or series of tasks for a reward.  Each contract has a range of time that it needs to be completed in, a gold reward and a chance for special rewards.  The reward is specific for each contract so easy contracts have smaller rewards and harder contracts have greater rewards.  Each contract dealer will refresh the contracts available after a specific period of time has expired, each deal has its own timer.  When you accept a contract for a specific category you will not be able to get a new contract for a certain period of time.

When you click Talk on the Contract Dealer, this is what you will see:


This contract dealer offers various contracts for those hunting inside Orc Cave or assisting the war against the orcs.  Below is a complete list of what each of the above contracts look like.

Looks great Kane! Another amazing custom addition to the shard! Can't wait to get started on it.

That is looking good.  Very nice variety in the new system.


I do have a couple of questions though.


What will happen to any BODs and Monster Contracts that players currently have?


Will the BOD and Moster Contract Book be updated to store the new contracts?


And of course we will start a new spread sheet once this really nice looking system goes live for us.


If you need anyone to test this for you let me know, I will be happy to pitch in.

We have not decided yet, my goal is to be able to replace those systems because both suffer from issues that would require a complete recode to resolve and even then I would not be 100% I would resolve all the issues and be able to keep the current BODs and Contracts.  There are also some design issues that make it next to impossible to put unique rewards that I need for some of the new content coming in the very near future like the crafting system.

No, this system comes with its own ledger for contracts.  I treat it no different then token or gold because the contracts are on you not items.  Once the base is in play there are several support things that need to take place.. like how we want to handle trading contracts and such.  These things though are simply open questions at the moment until players start using the new system

And of course we will start a new spread sheet once this really nice looking system goes live for us.
This system each contract has its own mini reward table that is done for the contract when it is designed in the config, for me this is where it gets fun for those using it.  You will be able to figure out what a specific contract does and staff will be able to easily make adjustments and additions

My plan is for that to start this weekend :)

I like the breeding ones, as long as it only stays at lower generations, would HATE to see a generation 10 requirement, lol. Then again I'm thinking what the reward would be like for that one.

At this time I do not see a need for anything Gen 10, tons of lower level contracts to get done before you reach anything of that depth.  With this system though one of the goals has been to give us a full range of tasks for rewards to offer that have not been available in the past.

Next phase of the Contract System... so you found a contract that you want to do.. and click accept contract.  When you open your contract ledger you will find any contracts you have available to do are listed, please note also listed is the date for when the contract expires.


This is what the contract now looks like, you can add items to the contract and complete it from this point


Once you have added all of the needed items, this is what the contract will display.


At this point you return to the NPC that gave you the contract and press Turn In...

I am doing a full test again today.. clean up anything I find, then do an update tomorrow.  The plan is to have a small set of contracts for the weekend so players can get a test and feel for it plus give any input.  I have talked with Domino about doing a limited week only quest where one of the things you need to do is a contract to complete it. 

Clean up any issues and start to add new quests.  We can do it in game so no need for restarts.

Orcs are just my test theme so I can see how things will look and make sure what I have in my mind can be done.

Yeah we have a few things coming into the light that will be very custom, what you are seeing now is just the needed pieces for the new crafting system which will be coming soon.

Ok, as I find out more info I will post it here.


The location for the 1st BOD Giver of this system is SW of Brit Bank area, where the 4 hut/houses are (follow the road out of SW BB area, & keep following South, then take 1st road branch to the east).


Kane is releasing 1 "type" for testing at this point.


1. Get a "Merchant Ledger" for Brit Banker or Minter for 250 gp. Its blessed.  This is to allow you to see the BOD Contracts youve gathered.  "Merchant Ledgers" are transferable between toons, but the actual BOD Contracts are not. BOD Contracts are assigned to the character that originally received it.


2. Players can only get 1 "Type" of BOD Contract at a time.  For clarity, when you read the BODs that are offered, youll see "Type: XXX XXX"(Example: Type: Dragon Crusade). There are several offerings for each category, err "Type" (at present time) for just this 1. Kane is currently only tesing 1 "Type".


3 Taking note of the area surrounding the Contract Giver, perhaps the items spread about are something to take note of? Are they deco, items to gather, or possibly even rewards?

This weekend I plan to start testing the next phase.. which deals more with crafting, resources or other items to fill contracts.  So far things are going well..

I like the contracts for Rikktor, Spirilix, and the Magi Dragon as well.


Rikktor is a bad hard to do since some idiot usually goes and grabs the corpse as soon as they can.

Well, perhaps if we ask other players to spread the word to NOT [grab/[claimall/[claim -c, because its now a quest for it, it could help.  Im pretty vocal about asking players to be polite & help one another out. (Yes, I know, too vocal at times, bleh*giggles*).  But If we get "team spirit" rolling across the server in mentality, it can & will work. Just be consistent, polite, kind & fair.
