BODs

My thought process is going to come from a perspective of someone that comes to the shard just for crafting. They make a character then head off to New Haven to train up their skills by doing the starter quest for each. Then they use the skill ball to increase their skills up to 100. Each time they log in they gather the BODs for each of their crafting skill. This will take some time to gather a large quantity of BODs to satisfy their crafting desire. In the down time they go and gather materials; skins, ore, and lumber. Feeling slightly frustrated they decide to make 4 alts to go and get extra BODs.

Now this player begins to run into issues. They are doing the BODs that they can but they run into an issue like this:
Carp bod - exceptional - bloodwood - gnarled staff - x15

At 100 carp skill there is only a 27.2% chance to craft an exceptional gnarled staff. Now factor in whatever skill level of lumberjacking is need to gather the bloodwood, this BOD is out of the crafters skill level. (resource page is out of date)

Now I do not know what all is factored in to determine what BODs you get. If making that part of the BOD system smoother is to larger/time consuming task, then addressing the rewards section could overcome the issue. If there is a clear cut way of seeing what BODs are handed out at a characters skill level, then the rewards could be tailored to increase the skills of such crafter before getting the harder bods. Items such as power scrolls, +skill armor for skill (wood based BODs have chance for Lumberjacking items, metal/ore), and of course the skill cloth deeds.

With those players who have a desire just to do BODs or crafting in general their income is not going to allow them to purchase items from other players. Currently there is a very small market for player crafted items, and good rewards to sell come at higher level.

Ways to better crafting/BODs:
rewards at set tiers are designed to increase character skill to get to new tier. (every 5 levels)
possibility of player crafted armor that has same system as player crafted weapons.
full set of armor (6 piece; helm-neck-chest-legs-shoulders-gloves) that give +1 to +5 skill bonus for each type of BOD and their resource gathering skill
possible jewelry that gives a bonus to crafting/gathering skills +5 to +10

The end goal of this idea is to still require effort and dedication to be able to complete the high end bods. Crafters will still need to buy augments from other players. If they wish to get to the higher levels quicker they will have to do other activities and/or purchase items from others.

This is just my opinion and it is mostly based on knowledge from a couple of years ago. If things have changed would love to know.

Most of the BODs do offer various crafting Power Scrolls as rewards.

A player just concentrating on doing BODs, will eventually get the scrolls to become 120 in all crafting types.

Clothing can increase this skill further.  There is also some armor that can increase Fletching, Blacksmithing, and Tinker as well.

Add a Talisman with the relevant crafting skill that can increase chance of success between 10% and 30% chance to craft an item for either normal, exceptional, or both.

For a serious BOD runner multiple characters and a Second account with max number of characters will produce and very large amount of BODs per day.  Just remember to have each alt at different levels of crafting instead of all at Max, as the types of BODs received with vary depending on skill level.

If you are interested in seeing which BODs currently offer which rewards feel free to check out a project that has been coordinated by Shena, BobThe Builder, Susro (me), and a few others.  The link for it is:

They have put a lot of work into it, for anyone that is interested to check out, also the Devs have access to it so they can see what is actually being rewarded and to change it in the future if Kane has time.
