I have been playing now a week or 2. I am trying to figure out the best direction to go to make gold. What I like to do is hunt, fish and craft. Unfortunately there is no clear path.


For hunting you need slayers to hunt the kind of stuff that makes you money. For slayers you need to have money, or craft yourself. To craft yourself you need to get runics. To get runics you need to be able to mine/chop with garg items. To do that you need high LJ, which requires PS and clothing that all require money.


Fishing SOS is ok, but not yielding much profit out of the gate. I hear panning is nice but you need 200+ fising else your wasting your time. Fishing PS and clothing is also very expensive.


It's like, I am at the low tier, and to pass into the medium tier you need money/items that you can't really get effectivly at the low tier. I am kind of stuck. I am in the NEW guild and they help and are still helping me get to the "end of the low tier" and such, but getting those items that are needed to hunt big things, make moeny from fishign or crafting cost a lot of money. How do I get that money here? How do I get to those items.


I am not looking for a handout, but rather someone to tell me how they passing from the lower class to the middle class on this server. Which direction should I sink my time into for the greatest reward.

Getting stuff can be long here but there is many way to do it. If you are really low money/stuff, mining can be a first step to do money, that sell well and without item you can find plat. Try to do some champ with an area weapon (malicious can be a first 0 cost weap, not the best but still) like semidar champ, there is wave 2 with gargoyle (not so hard) and start to collect some gargoyles pickaxe and sell/use them to find more plat or elem that drop runic.

Champ is still good for money but need stuff and time. Don't know that much fishing.

Right, but I mean.. from the perspective of a more advanced player... if you neeed to make 5 mil ASAP, how would you do it?


Would you go and kill XXX? Would you go to doom and farm DF? Would you go farm a quest item that sells for a lot? Would you go gold panning? Would you go find open champs and do the ones already spawned?


From other players I want to know, do you go and make money. There is a lot of ways I can focus my efforts, I need to know which one is profitable.

If I had to come up with 5m as quickly as possible, I would do a bunch of Treasure Maps, a socket scroll (although rare) is worth 4.5m, and I have gotten them in the past with regularity on Cleverly Maps or better. 


I am no stranger to being tight on gold, when I began the shard, I set up a rune book that had high gold drop mobs.  Examples here would be Rune Beetles, Hiyru, Oni, Skeletal Dragons, Dragons, Deamons, Balron and Titans.  All of these examples drop either high gold (1-2.5k), or have the chance of dropping Treasure Maps, and can be recalled to and from freely (not in a dungeon).  With enough entries in a rune book like this, I was able to go from start to finish, and in some cases, the time taken was enough to let them respawn.


Respawn times are an issue that have been brought up here on the forums recently, and Staff have acknowledged it being a problem, given the size of the shard now.  So hopefully we will see the spawn rates pick up in the near future.


Try hunting areas with high drop chance of augments, remember a Parry Augment can sell for 4.5m, and some of the other augments are nothing to sneeze at.  I suggest to NEW to try inside the Fairy Gate at Ilsh Mushroom cave, and even the Travesty Citadel.


For me, I hunt nearly exclusively in Fel, as the tyrant spawn rate seems to be higher than the paragon spawn rate of Ilsh, not to mention, it is VERY rare to receive a paragon chest, while I get quite a few tyrant chests.  These chests all contain one treasure map, regs, gems, gold and one "rare" item.

I would consider myself firmly entrenched in the upper middle class. I have never won an item at auction but I can typically scrounge together the gold/ED for things that I want. I got there almost exclusively with champs and t-maps. The two compliment one another quite well even because once you get yourself a nice triple leech axe or scimitar you can level the weapon up pretty quickly doing the t-maps and that will make it much easier for you to solo the champ spawns. Like Norton, I mostly do the champs for t-maps and the occasional 120 scroll(still thinking of you when I get that stealing/stealth 120 Norton) but the gold ain't bad and if you can do 4 champs in an afternoon I typically find that I can get 750k-1 mil. One thing that was not mentioned about t-maps is that some of them also drop rare items. I recently got a mystic mayhem out of one and sold it for a small fortune. Also most of the storage key quests, while time consuming, do not require end game armor and weapons and those can be sold for decent money depending on the key.

I have never been much of a crafter but I know that you can get socket scrolls that way as well. Maybe someone with more experience in that can chime in with some tips.

So it sounds like T6 maps are way better than SOS for making money.


I have done lots of sos(70+) and only got 1 piece of the crafting key. They also don't seem to drop artifacts.


So looks like like I need a steady way to get T6 cleverly drawn maps.

I'm going to give away a little secret, about Treasure Maps.  Quantity over Quality.  Running an organizer in Steam, I am able to complete lvl 3 and 4 treasure maps (adeptly and cleverly) in about 2 minutes, give or take a few seconds.  It may take a little longer if there is a deco rare from a "Themed" maps that I care to get (most of the time, I let them rot).  I throw on my luck suit, whip out a few Ancient Fire Steeds and Royal Steeds, and knock out maps in batches of 10.  Royal Steeds are overkill for these maps, but hey, if I have them, might as well use them.  In 10 maps and having a "good run", I'll come out of there with roughly 20-50k in my bag, more reagents than I know what to do with, and enough gems to throw in my key, this does not included the gold gained passively from the spawn of the map.  Then comes the good stuff, 2-5 deeds (weapon lvl deeds, or magic cloth deeds) that I can either use or sell.

Level 6 maps, I have mixed emotions on, since they are quite valuable, they make tempting sales at 150-250k each, depending on demand at that time.   Not to mention the difficulty of lvl 6 maps, I am not sure what gear you are running, but let me tell ya, when Minotaurs pop...my pets get immediately shrunk, and I quickly switch to some combat gear to take them out...because a luck suit and pets are NOT the way to go to fight the Minotaurs.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't leave Minotaurs roaming around, and PLEASE....Kane!  Make them worth while to kill...I can't tell you how many times I get PM's to kill some Minotaurs left in the wild since many players leave them behind, aren't worth killing, and wreck the day of those who get lucky enough to pop them.

If you are hunting for the treasure hunter key, I would highly recommend doing the level 1 maps.  The drop rate is the same across all TMaps, so you can burn through a LOT more of the level 1 maps in an hour than say level 6 maps.


Also mining, even without a 120 power scroll and mining clothing, can be highly profitable just selling the ore itself.  Find a crafter and see what deal they can make you, perhaps they will trade you a good triple leach axe or Blackstaff for 1000 units of ore.  After that they might trade you some lower level mining gear for ore as well.  Do not forget the +10 mining pick that can be gotten from a stone for tokens or from a one time quest, just equip it and use a shovel from your backpack instead.


Start farming the Astral Deomons for Astral Demon bones, then in is a full set of Astral Demon Armor that is really good stuff.
