So first let me say, I have not opened my presents yet, so these comments are unaffected by the glow of appreciation I am expecting to feel after I open my presents!!

Loved the event. It was clever and well thought out.  I particularly liked the snappy names you gave the quest Elves and the narrative of the quests themselves.

I think all of the complaining (I did my fair share), is really a compliment.  You created something people really wanted to participate in and, if like me, wanted to complete with all 12 presents.

For consideration for future events, is the balance between difficulty, reward and players varied ability (time) to play - especially during a holiday like Christmas.  I for one, play as often as I can, but can not spend hours a day, every day logged in like some other players can.  I don't expect to be equally geared to someone with that kind of time and with, perhaps, years of experience over me.

As a suggestion, please consider the casual players who might only have an hour to devote to an event.  I would rather that than the general feeling of - oh well guess you can't participate, go do something else.  No, I want to participate in this great event.

The only actual suggestion I would make is to scale (if possible) spawn rate to the number of those actively on the quest.  You could make them accept the quest before gathering the needed items.  Then ramp up the swan rate (a little) if a location is swarming with players.

Overall - I loved the event and really wanted to complete each quest - talk about compelling content!  I appreciate the fact that this was a 12 day event and required a lot of dedication to pull off.  Hence the desire to participate was rather strong in all of us.  Great Job, Great Shard, and Merry Christmas.  The Random presents in the backpacks was a nice touch!
