BOD Guide

Seregon's BOD Guide

I have been running bods off and on here for about 9 years and wanted to give those that may not know some information I have found, based on my experiences. I probably keep 20k bods at a time roughly. That may sound like a lot of bods, but trust me, it is not with the all the different variations.

If you are serious about working bods then you need to use all of your character slots for bod collection. Also, you need to have a second account (not sure the cost of this now) as that gives you more chances and more bods to work with. Basic toons need a little strength, recall ability and basic bod skills that can be purchased from NPCs.

Quantity over quality FIRST

I will explain.

Skills

It is ok to take your skill up to 120 in all 6 skills that give bods, however, you should consider doing this ONLY on one character. Why? Because as skill goes up then you will be limited to picking up bods only every 6 hours. I do not remember the cutoff but I believe it is around max 34.2 skill or so in each bod pickup skill. You can use the other 4 toons on your account or the other 9 with 2 accounts to pick up bods every 2 hours with low skill. So don't train them all past low level 30s in these skills. And yes, usually with low level skill, at least in the crafting bod pickup, this is a basic bod as I do believe skill and fame can affect how good the bod is. That really doesn't matter as I will explain in a moment. Just say you could possibly log out and in every 2 hours with every toon and you have 10 toons. Your main character gets 6 bods every 6 hours for a total of 24 bods a day. The other 9 get 6 bods every 2 hours for a total of 72 bods a day PER toon. (Tedious yes - monotonous certainly but it can be done).

For those that are counting that is a total of 672 bods a day. [6 bods x 1 toon 4 times a day = 24, plus 6 bods x 9 toons 12 times a day = 648] Realistic - probably not; but it CAN be done. They can still pile up fast even if you only have 1 account (312 bods a day) or even if you are not able to participate quite at this level.

Turn-ins

Every time you fill a bod and turn it in, you can get another bod from that NPC even if you just picked one up. I take all those crappy iron bods for example and fill them with my legendary smith and turn them in with him, wearing my smithy suit for high skill and have my fame and karma maxed. (Again, not sure Karma affects but I do believe skill and fame do). I get a colored bod way more often with my best smithy that I could get otherwise. So, if I fill 100 crappy bods and turn in 100 to say the Smithy NPC, I will get 100 bods back 1 for 1 each time I turn one in - IMMEDIATELY. And they are somewhat better overall - so use your best crafter to turn in your full bods. Do NOT forget you have to click on the NPC each time you turn one in, or you will miss out. 1 for 1. Hard to macro also and can be a pain.

Rewards

Rewards are tough. I get powder of fort maybe 10-20% of the time as a reward for bods that yield it. I have only had 1 +60 ASH the whole time here but turned in a dozen that could have yielded one. I have received 1 sharpening stone - ever. I have had a few +30 ASHs and more than a few of +10s and +15 ASHs. Weapon Level deeds drop some and tons of gargoyle tools are given. Garg tools usually have from 7-11 uses for smithy, higher uses for bowcrafting rewards. I do not believe the higher level runics drop as rewards, at least on Smithy. Platemail Exceptional 10 Platinum large bod can give a +30 ASH or a sharpening tool. No idea about Platemail Exceptional 15 Large Platinum as I have never had all of the bods or filled one. Platemail Exceptional 20 Large Platinum is the one large I filled that gave me the sharpening tool. In my opinion the rewards for this level of bods should be Platinum Runic hammers and +60 ASHs.

BS skill clothing 1-3 skill mostly drop very often as do the metal dye tub and chainmail clothing deco. Rarely +5 smithy clothing. Also, I receive plenty of low level runics (agapite and verite are the highest maybe - I believe Verite runic is the highest reward hammer on smithy bods) which is why I usually bust up large bods, turn them in separately and try to get better bods as low level runics are useless. Have received a few prospector tools and lots of 110 and 115 Powerscrolls(tons) and few Turned in 2 Large Smithy bods yesterday that COULD have yielded a +15 or +30 ASH for one, and the other COULD have yielded a +30 or a +60 ASH. THEY actually gave a 115 mining PS and a 115 smithy PS instead. So... yes rewards are tough - the grind continues. For every crappy bod I fill I have the chance to get a decent one in direct exchange.

There are so many different large bods, normal and exceptional 10, 15, 20 of each plain and colored resource, so yes RNG can be a tough mistress with getting some of the larges filled and all of the bod work is a long commitment.

Pet bods can be huge for tamers and I do think they give decent rewards. Not much experience with these after pets were nerfed. I do remember bio brushes, pet powerscrolls and minor taming clothing.

Tailor bods can yield magic cloth deeds but you will get 8k looms, 50 use scissors, flower tapestries and bear and polar rugs in the process, as well as a few gargoyle tools and runics. Good luck getting enough 20 exceptional thigh boots bods - uggh.

I usually only fill bowcrafting bods for the gargoyle tools. Rewards can be low level fletching and lumberjacking skill clothing as well as some deco like a stack of arrows or an archery butte. All of the crafting bods can give runics and skill clothing up to +5 for filling certain large bods, as far as I know.

Carpentry bods usually yield gargoyle tools, low level lumberjacking or mining clothing, stain of durability (same as powder of fort but only for bows), garg axes and prospector tools. Also some of the unfinished furiture rewards are ok.

I used to fill tinker bods but now mostly collect them after the bod reward tables changed and that large rare one that gave socket scrolls no longer yields that reward. Will get serious about them later when I am working on my tinker suit again and maybe the Useneach crafting. You can get ATHs and Powerscrolls, tinker runics - electrum tinker runic is the highest reward I believe.

My 2 pennies anyways - your mileage may vary. As with everything, it is a marathon and not a sprint. Hopefully for those not familiar with bod running this can give you a little intro and some tips. This is NOT a comprehensive list by any means. Remember grinding yields quantity which eventually yields some quality and decent rewards. I tried years ago to exchange bods with other players that yielded like-kind rewards but there was not very much interest and people that received a great reward for a certain large bod were a bit skeptical to do much like-kind trading. So very few were running bods and most didn't really want to trade except for exact kind.

Bod Trading would be beneficial if enough of us were participating.
