Trait System

This system is a work in progress and this info will change!

What is a Trait?

A trait is an ability that a pet may naturally possess or gain from breeding

Each Trait can have multiple tiers, which represents how powerful the trait can function

The trait system allows for mobiles to become enhanced by gaining traits during the leveling of the pet. A mobile can receive traits from several ways during the course of its existence.

The initial pet may be born with natural traits. You can then level the pet with training, and gain traits. Lastly you can breed pets together to pass on desirable traits to the baby

DNA strength plays a factor in getting more traits

DNA

Each pet has a DNA score. The higher the score the better the DNA is and the higher the percent chance to get traits

DNA Strength Order:

  • Weak,
  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Capable
  • Gifted
  • Strong
  • Extraordinary
  • Perfect

Natural Traits

Traits can be natural - When a pet is born, either from being spawned naturally or from breeding, the pet has a chance to get random, natural traits.

Here is a list of natural traits:

Hit Point Bonus
Adds Hit Points to the creature. Trait has 3 Tiers and no need to spend Ability Points to enhance further.

Stam Bonus
Adds Stam to the creature. Trait has 3 Tiers and no need to spend Ability Points to enhance further.

Mana Bonus
Adds Mana to the creature. Trait has 3 Tiers and no need to spend Ability Points to enhance further.

Strength Bonus
Adds Strength to the creature. Trait has 3 Tiers and no need to spend Ability Points to enhance further.

Fire Breath Attack

Roar Attack

Leveling Pets

A pet will start to level with training/killing monsters. Each pet has a max level it can achieve. Pets get a chance to get a new trait at each 5th level

When a pet reaches the following levels 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45 and 50, it has a chance of either gaining a new trait or having one of its current traits increase in tier. This chance is based on the DNA Strength of the pet and the owners Taming, Lore and Luck

Pets will naturally have their max level set randomly between 10-30 levels

Pet max leveling deeds can be used to increase the max level cap to 50

Breeding Traits

Breeding Pets - The baby can receive traits based on the parent's traits. Based on conditions, a trait can have a 0% to 100% of being passed on from the parents to the baby.

A baby starts out with 0% chance of getting a trait, then the following takes place to figure out the end chance.

During breeding, a pet can gain a bonus based on the breeders Taming skill, Animal Lore skill and Luck.

A trait can have one of three different status:

  • Blue[I]- Inherent: This has the highest chance of being passed on to the baby, +50%.
  • Red [M] - Mutation: This has a medium chance, +25%.
  • Green [N] - Normal: This has no chance, +0%.

If both parents have the same trait, the +% is added together to provide a final chance that the baby receives the trait. So if both parents have Trait A the baby has 100% of getting the trait.

As long as the chance is above 0, the baby gets a bonus based on the breeders Taming, Lore and Luck for the trait to be passed on.

Some things to be aware of:

  • Pets can have multiple traits, with multiple tiers of strength
  • Most traits have tiers, the higher the tier the more powerful the trait bonuses become.
  • Most traits will increase the minimum taming score needed for the pet.
  • Some traits require ability points to be spent as the tier unlocks and determines how far it can be enhanced.
  • Some traits may increase the control slots needed.
  • Bio Pets and Donation Pets are excluded from this system
  • Death has no effect upon Traits or Tiers

I will be adding more info as it becomes available

Special Pet Trait Deeds

  • Decrease Stat Loss Amount Deed
  • Decrease Stat Loss Chance Deed
  • Increase Healing Trait Deed (The pet must already have healing trait)
  • Improved Fire Explosion Damage Trait Deed (Ancient Nightmare Only)
  • Greater Hit Fireball Intensity Trait Deed (Ancient Nightmare Only)
  • Improved Hit Fireball Resist Trait Deed (Ice Steed Only)
  • Pet Healing Trait Deed (Magical Elf Only)

These deeds can be added to pets, some have restrictions. The deeds can be found as rewards in various systems, for sale on a vendor stone or by donation
