Happy 10th Anniversary UO Evolution!

Publish 77 - January 2021

New Year Updates

I wanted to take a moment and list some of the larger projects I see being developed over 2021. What cannot be stressed is this is not an absolute list just some things I see at this point I want to put a solid effort into being accomplished.

Factions:

1. Today System Recode: If it was just for the normal shard this wouldn't happen but given factions it needs to happen. This will allow for for events to run on different maps without involving the other maps. Also make for easier coding and testing of new events.

2. Today System Recode: Currently only has 1 pool basically to check for events. This needs to be expanded to several different pools. This would allow for Map Events, Guild Events, Personal Events and finally what you see now.. Shard Events. Once #1 happens this will be far easier to make happen and in fact will happen at the sametime just are different levels of work.

3. Hades: While it will be its own contained area it will also serve as a testing ground for some Faction material.

4. Gate Keeper: One day in 2021 I will get the quiet week I need to make this happen.

5. Expeditions: I have been working on this design for a while now. This system will offer not just a unique way to play UO but also something for pets as well.

6. New UOE custom Patcher/Launcher: I have the files, once I get Hades open I will create a beta version of the patcher and start testing.

7. New updated interactive website

I do have tons of other small things on my list to do as well so this is in no way all I am doing, just some main things I want to see done in 2021 - Kane

Update 370 "Hades"

1-2-2021

  • Regions Updated: Added cut outs for Hades
  • Go Updated: Added locations for Narza and Hades (Staff thing)
  • Region - Hades General Added: Basic region for normal area in Hades
  • Region - Hades PvP Added: PvP Dungeon for Hades to handle specialized code for specific mechanics and altered game play.
  • Deco Deeds Added: 32 new items from Sayla
  • Magic Lock Updated: Preventing it from working on Package Chests
  • Remove Trap Updated: Preventing it from working on Package Chests
  • Magic Trap Updated: Preventing it from working on Package Chests
  • Package Chest Updated: Added Trap Reward feature
  • Remove Trap Skill Updated: Added Package Chest handlers
  • Container Logging Updated: Small feature so I can track a few things
  • House Drop Report Updated: Updated for recent staff stages
  • Hades Monsters Added: First batch, there will be more coming and these need to be tweaked. I was mostly going for a shell going forward with the basic idea of what I want just not completely tested out with players to establish balance and vision
  • Boots of the Soul Walker Updated: One of the first items I ever did here and had an issue when applying certain sockets. This should clean up the issue.
  • Combat Controller Updated: Can handle Hades options
  • Hades Moongate Added: Gate system specific for Hades

1-8-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 2 new items from Sayla
  • Region Controller Updated: (Tons of swear words) Crash from 10 year old code.
  • Slot Machine Updated: Recoded the win table and reward table
  • Tainted Soul of Hades Added: New trait reward from Hades. The main idea of this trait is to have quite a few levels available (20 atm) and to determine the skill bonus it will find your highest skill from a select group and use that as the point of action for bonuses

  • Slot Machine Updated: A few small tweaks, mostly streamlining win table
  • Hades Added: A few new mobs of the lower/medium scale
  • Package Chest Updated: Miner tweaks resolved from testing
  • Stealing Updated: Miner tweaks resolved from testing
  • Remove Trap Updated: Miner tweaks resolved from testing
  • Hades Gate Updated: Location corrections

Update 373

1-22-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 4 new items from Sayla
  • Player Vendor Updated: Set base stats higher to wear gear.
  • Coin Minting Updated: Was not correctly resolving coin requirements
  • Hue Room Ticket Updated: Will not work in Hades
  • Hades Mobs Updated: Should be completely stripped of normal rewards

1-29-2021

  • Hades Region Updated: Added a note when you are awarded or lose tears
  • Package Chest Updated: Some tweaks to improve handling as dungeon chests.
  • Hades Dungeon Chest Added: Long term plan has always been each dungeon having specific flavored dungeon chests, with *Hades I am able to put this into existence and test it.
  • Password Change Gump Updated: Lack of error handling and data validation
  • New Casino added in Trinsic
  • Blackjack tables added
  • Poker room updated with more buy-in options

  • Hades Region Updated: Coin tracking added
  • Slot Machine Updated: Config error was causing 2 issues with rewards
  • Slot Machine Updated: Currency not being rewarded due to incorrect structure in the check
  • Dynamic Logging Updated: Expanded to better handling logs by date
  • Report Murder Updated: Killing in Hades will not add to your Murder Count

2-6-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 19 new items from Sayla
  • Report Murder Update: PvP Death Announce should be back on when in Hades
  • Report Murder Update: PvP Points will be gained/lost while in Hades (Please note these will have no baring on future leaderboards with regard to Hades content though)
  • Tyrant/Paragon Wands Updated: They do not work in Hades
  • Player Death Updated: Should now reset Name Hue
  • Base Costume Updated: No longer changes NameHue

2-11-2021

  • Player Death Updated: Last fix didn’t fix anything so went a little basic with the concept. I still expect some slight issues with this but toying with another idea (See Version 376)
  • Dynamic Consumption Updated: Added new commands to alter internal Currencies. A few improvements needed in this area yet to come.
  • Hades PvP Region Updated: Found a situation where the currency was not being reset.
  • Bank Crystal Updated: Speech command now checks for the Hades Facet
  • Dynamic Consumption Updated: Added a zero out currency function

Update 378

2-19-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 52 new items from Sayla
  • Shard Controller Updated: Hades Murderer Count switch added
  • Shard Controller Updated: Goblin thieves loot table data
  • Report Murder Gump Updated: Now checks the Hades switch to determine MC in Hades
  • Hades Region Updated: When coins are lost due to death your luck and the number of Tiers you have been awarded with the Tainted Soul of Hades trait will determine the number of coins the percentage of coins lost. (For testing this will work for both PvP and PvM)
  • Player Mobile Updated: Created death stats (This is just internal data)
  • Storage Keys Updated: Resources should now check to see if backpack is full and if so drop into your bank.
  • Neferix Updated: New hue and lowered damage threshold
  • Vecna Essence Updated: Decreased weight

Update 379

2-26-2021

  • Hades Region Updated: Saying “Hades Tears” in Hades will show you the number you have collected.
  • Package Chest Updated: Tweaked a few default flags
  • Package Chest Updated: Moved decay options to the config
  • Hide and Seek Updated: [NoSeek will turn off the pointing arrows, using the command again will turn them back on. This will reset after restarts to the On position
  • BaseCreature Updated: Turned off some test spam I had hitting the console to verify certain things.

3-5-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 19 new items from Sayla
  • Talking Deco Added: Something new being tried out.
  • Hades PvP Region Updated: Never fails sometimes; add a new feature, create a new bug. Tears should be lost now on Death, the base number is 100% lost however this can be lowered with higher luck and Tiers in the Hade’s Trait. I have a 3rd way to help prevent loss of Tears on death coming but will need some free time.
  • Dynamic Consumption Updated: Small issue when making purchase on currencies
  • Hide and Seek Updated: The command [noseek can now be accessed by Players

  • Deco Deeds Added: 21 new items from Sayla
  • Report Murder Updated: Based on feed back we are back to where we were a few weeks ago, it is a good thing I have a sense of humor.
  • Hades PvP Region Updated: Code clean up and reporting (Initial step to tweaking coins lost on death)
  • Dungeon Chest Updated: Cleaned up the logic flow handling decay
  • Dungeon Chest Updated: Added open chest name
  • Dungeon Chest Updated: Dev mode to provide information on a live chest

  • Deco Deeds Added: 19 new items from Sayla
  • Regions Updated: Added new Peaceful Event Area, this will no doubt need some tweaking as time goes by so just a starting point of limiting spell casting.
  • Gaming Dice Added: New kind of dice added to help staff run events that require random things.

  • Deco Deeds Added: 3 new items from Sayla
  • Unlock Spell Updated: Will not work on Package Chests at this time, this will be updated shortly to work in a way much like the skill
  • Virtue Potions Added: These potions yield a small explosion of virtue which has a chance to dispel any evil enhancement such as the Witch Doctor Charm/Enchantment while also causing a little damage. There are three different strengths for this potion, I will reveal more info as I play with these new mechanics.
  • Report Murderer Update: Normal PvP kills will now be logged
  • Gold Ledger Update: Added a fill from pack feature that handles both gold and checks.
  • Trait System Updated: Added a new method for removing traits
  • Dynamic Logging Updated: Added additional features for packaging needed data

  • Royal Hunt Awards Updated: The new list of awards should be populating now.
  • Child of Death Updated: Old artifact from some odd package with bad weapon abilities
  • Valicious Updated: Old artifact from some odd package with bad weapon abilities
  • Base Ingredient Updated: Expanded base functionality to handle features for War Master Crafting
  • Crafting Quill Updated: Simplified the durability increase.
  • Crafting Chisel Updated: Simplified the durability increase.
  • Crafting Combine Deed: Cost now takes the ingredient/recipe durability into account when figuring out the price
  • Base Crafting Scroll Updated: Expanded base functionality to handle features for War Master Crafting.
  • Crafting Scroll Gump Updated: To many issues cleaned up to list, how about I just say it works now?
  • Wiki updates
  • New Wiki graphics added by Tiger
  • The Virtual Market was updated with new items and pricing

Update 386

4-30-2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 29 new items from Sayla
  • Unlock Spell Updated: Found a small bug in the process when handling Vecna Scribe Chests and Package Chests
  • Base Champion Updated: Elemental Lord can now drop any scroll
  • Base Potion Updated: Added new potion enhancement function that does not allow for skill bonus, merely based on properties of items
  • Virtue Potions Updated: If the potion removes any evil traits there will be a *Splashed* emote above their head for a moment
  • Virtue Potions Updated: Changed default remove percentage to 33/50/66 (was 25/50/100) with a bonus from your total Enhance Potion bonus (Normal max)
  • PvP Points Updated: Based on some discussions with players this has been removed for 2 reasons. The current system allows for to much cheating because of how poorly coded and implemented, in addition it creates a fear in some players they do not wish to risk losing points. (Kind of defeats the reason for them and adds no value to the shard)
  • Ancient Dragons Updated: Always interesting when code that runs a billion times suddenly has an issue. I currently handled this in the direct code but will need to do some research how to resolve this possible issue if it happens again in another mobile.
  • Package Chests Updated: Added logging for when the chest is opened
  • Package Chests Updated: Changed the process flow when the chest is open
  • Package Chests Updated: Process reset catch if chest is opened and current info has not been established.
  • Updated the Wiki
  • Added Fishing Suit
  • Added Tinker Suit
  • Added full suit of the Demented Tinker

5/7/2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 29 new items from Sayla
  • Hades Socket Key Added: Started with this, added all my new augments to this key. It is the rare version of the Socket Key (We have done this in the past with other keys as well). When I add more augments they will be added to this key. First place this will be found is the Hades Slot Machine.
  • Bronze Hades Chest Added: Expanding dungeon chest code
  • Stealing Updated: Now part of the Dynamic Logging system so we can track stealables.
  • BaseCreature Updated: Now part of the Dynamic Logging system so I can track mobs released faster and without a ton of information.
  • Virtual Potions Updated: Given a new ID
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: The dynamic token was incorrect for handling features
  • War Master Gear Updated: Added ingredients to handle various armor props for Hades mobs (Claws and Blood)

Update 388

5/14/2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 6 new items from Sayla and Tiger
  • Sand Mining Updated: Now provided double in Felucca
  • PvP Points Updated: Cleaned up some journal stuff that was still being posted
  • Bod Box Updated: Now will work on the correct number the display posts, incorrectly upgrading some bods (I still think there is an issue I noticed at the last minute so will look at this again next week or 2)
  • Package Chest Updated: Added new Item ID for when the chest is opened.
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Now handles Lower Requirements and Improved Durability as features from ingredients.
  • Wild Practitioner Recipe Set Updated: Each piece now complete
  • Shard Controller Updated: Removed access to the Join New command (Not needed)

  • Deco Deeds Added: 4 new items from Sayla
  • Dynamic Logging Updated: Handling static announcement code
  • Dynamic Check Updated: Adding new static functions for Player vs Player
  • Bod Box Updated: Should handle normal resources correctly now
  • Crafting Hammer (Silver) Added: This will allow splitting up an ingredient for the new craft system (Silver has a 25% chance of damaging ingredients and costs 5 Evo Coins)
  • Crafting Hammer (Gold) Added: This will allow splitting up an ingredient for the new craft system (Silver has a 10% chance of damaging ingredients and costs 10 Evo Coins)
  • Crafting Hammer (Platinum) Added: This will allow splitting up an ingredient for the new craft system (Silver has a 0% chance of damaging ingredients and costs 0 Evo Coins)
  • Deaths: Start of new code handling announcements for kills in Felucca

  • The wiki got a complete overhaul and update - New screenshots, graphics, info and additional info in every section
  • All of the major custom vendor shops around town have been updated with new items, deco and gear
  • The Market System has been updated
  • Deco Deeds Added: 68 new items from Sayla, Tiger and Flops
  • Fishing Updated: Added Driftwood
  • Woodcrafting and Whittling Updated
  • Voting Stone Updated: Added additional information to the data
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Moved complete system on to the live shard for the next phase of testing.
  • Mystery Chest - Wild Practitioner Added: The chest can drop any recipe scroll or ingredient used for this specific gear set (13 items total on the table) of random intensity to be used for crafting the gear. Chest also has a new model, it can be either a Silver, Gold or Platinum chest; Silver drops 1 item, Gold drops 3 items and Platinum drops 5 items.
  • Bod System Updated: Pretty sure uncovered the rogue code that was clearing the large bod entry array

  • The wiki was updated
  • Deco Deeds Added: 2 new items from Sayla
  • Market System Updated: Added some sanity code to check for a few unique instances where issues can be created.
  • Market System Updated: Data updated, be aware some prices may have changed in addition to cleaning up a few errors found in my research this week.
  • Contract System Updated: Added response checks to the system to ensure delays are enforced (Not sure if anyone was exploiting this but now it will be caught and those scripts will be logged)

  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Complete update of all files, countless small tweaks resolved from this past week of testing.
  • Set Framework Update: Some functions are used by the Recipe Craft System that needed to be tweaked during final testing.
  • Market System Updated: Countless items and pricing updated this week to resolve issues with the new data

6/25/2021

  • Deco Deeds Added: 49 new items from Sayla and Flop
  • Lost and Found Updated: Advanced the code for both Storage Keys and Sewing Kits..
  • Shard Controller Updated: Assigned a few additional containers for new groups (This may need to be recoded. Won’t take long but would prevent issues as the system progresses)
  • Crafting Scrolls Updated: Found a wide range of issues when handling Cloth items, this should be wrapped up now but want to do a round of tests this week to verify.
  • Dynamic Logging Updated: Added functions to handle gathering data needed for items.
  • Lost and Found Updated: Now logs everything
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Adds crafters name if base item allows for it.
  • Wiki updated with new graphics and 150+ new dungeon maps

  • Blacksmith Updated: Resolved weapon name issue
  • Small Bod Updated: Changed resource name to match the other sources
  • Serialization Updated: Stage 1 complete (Clean up of corrupted data order)
  • Resources Updated: I thought I had the whole issue nailed down but at the last minute discovered the other half of it. One more update and this will be working.

7/16/2021

  • Dungeon Chests Updated: Added a few new configs for Vecna’s Tomb that are now spawning.
  • Tomb Loot Updated: Discovered a few issues regarding missing loot items, cleaned it up.
  • Serialization Updated: Stage 2 complete
  • Base AOS Light Added: No shield off-hand item base that can have AOS properties
  • AOS Lantern Added: Test item
  • AOS Updated: Handles new item base
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Just a few tweaks I was able to nudge out while dealing with the bigger issue

7/23/2021

  • Dungeon Chests Updated: Added a few 2 additional configs for Vecna’s Tomb that are now spawning. (Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold)
  • Vecna's Tomb Updated: There should be between 8 and 10 Dungeon Chests now spawning in the tomb, inside them can be all kinds of Vecna/Kas related items.
  • Shard Controller Updated: Full implementation of the new property handler
  • Base Ingredient Updated: Added a few list index sanity checks
  • Lumberjack Harvesting Updated: Slight recode for how bonus materials are handled.
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: A few ingredients had test features.

7/30/2021

  • Base Clothing Updated: Connected code to allow for Int and Dex requirements, half of the code was there just not connected to work correctly
  • Crafting Updated: Added new menu options for single craft Fish Steaks and Fukiya Dart
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: All recipe scrolls were updated for a final set of tweaks.

  • Contract Updated: A few small tweaks where I couldn’t type correctly.
  • Potion Key Updated: Recoded the withdraw process, no longer will deal with kegs and will currently only use empty bottles from your pack. (Step 1 Testing)
  • Enchanted Easter Egg Updated: Bad message when not locked down
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Missing item message listed incorrect item when removing ingredients
  • Mobile Mod Updated: Added functionality and commands to collected data with regard to Regen Rates
  • Mobile Mod Updated: Added a mana test to provide detailed info with a complete test of mana on a player mobile
  • Regen Rates Updated: Mana regen now provides debug data from the last regen cycle

8/29/2021

  • Tree Stump Updated: Issue with max number available
  • Mining Cart Updated: Missing Toxic
  • Potion Key Updated: Was still enforcing the 100 max in several locations
  • Key System Updated: Issue with moving dropped item when over the max limit

9/3/2021

  • Meditation Skill Updated: Removed the RNG aspect of the skill and moved to a skill based check system. Basic check is how much mana you need to regen with a basic modifier that existed before and a bonus for high luck. So the higher your med skill is, the higher you can start meditating. This is very simple at the moment but I want to see it run and get some input then will release the math aspects of it. New skill does have a switch so can change back in the event we find a major issue.
  • New Player Champ Updated: Will now announce in global when it starts
  • Claim System Updated: Changed message to fit the code
  • Powder Residues Updated: Improper check, still had testing info being loaded.

9/10/2021

  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Base ingredient price was being rolled up into the craft scroll price.
  • Recipe Craft System Updated Ingredients skill and attribute base price increases the more skills/attribute on the ingredient.
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Several functions that allow me to see what prices are the individual components for a craft scroll or ingredient.

9/17/2021

  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Added functionality for the intensity to have effect on the complete resource tree
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Cost to craft now goes through both Durability and Intensity effects
  • Bandages Updated: Not sure if anyone was doing this but can only use one bandage now, not one of each different kind at the same time.
  • Today System Updated: Verified Power Hours are working, there is a global announcement and decreased the delay between events run.

  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Added Dragon Channeler Recipe set
  • Recipe Craft System Updated: Hades mobs can now drop the new recipe set
  • Bandages Updated: Missing bandage adding to the check sequence.
  • Today System Updated: Power Hours will now announce in global and cleaned up the process in the DES Engine
  • Cannonball XP Deed Added: New way to add additional XPs to the 12 inch cannon ball
  • Trick or Treat Bag 2021 Added: New and Improved event bag
  • Deco Deeds Added: 31 new items from Flops
  • Balance Deed Updated: Now has an option for One Handed, this will not change your existing deeds
